r/Place

The Cave Story community has participated in r/Place   in both 2017 and 2022.

r/Place is a public art canvas where each person can only place one pixel at a time with long cooldown times before you can place another pixel. Co-operation is required to draw anything, and to undo attempts by others to draw over your art. It is basically a pixel art canvas turf war that never sleeps.

2017

The following directions can be used to find the Cave Story mural on the 2017 r/Place canvas:

• Look above the Gogh.bmp window which overlays the start bar (the start bar is at the very bottom of the canvas).
• Look below the Belgian flag in the bottom-left quadrant.
• Look either 863 pixels (86.3%) from the top, 283 pixels (28.3%) from the left, 98 pixels (9.8%) from the bottom, or 666 pixels (66.6%) from the right.
• Look it up on the 2017 r/Place Atlas.  

2022

The following directions can be used to find the Cave Story mural on the 2022 r/Place canvas:

• Look just below the Star Wars poster in the top-left quadrant.
• Look in line with the Linux penguin icon in the start bar (the start bar is at the very bottom of the canvas).
• Look either 866 pixels (43.3%) from the top, 562 pixels (28.1%) from the left, 1090 pixels (54.5%) from the bottom, or 1344 pixels (67.2%) from the right.
• Look it up on the 2022 r/Place Atlas.
