Cave Story: Heaven or Hell mode

Here’s a quick little hack of Cave Story I made. The game’s entirely the same, except that now everything dies in 1-hit (enemies, bosses, even you). It’s sort of like a challenge mod, except maybe a bit less difficult than a 3hp run.

Download link: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/43330715/doukutsu_Heaven_or_Hell.zip

I tested it last night (did a full playthrough), but if there are any bugs that make the game unplayable/unbeatable, please let me know.

This sounds really neat, I'll have to try this. I don't recall any part of the game that requires you to take damage but I haven't played vanilla in a while so \( '-')/

Do you have any plans to balance the difficulty in some way?

Sounds like an interesting deal.

Iji had this feature with the sudden death sectors. Those were random access though.

Beat the game the entire way, somehow got Toroko's Theme after hell. All in all, it was a nice challenge. No bugs of any kind.

Now for a Hell or Hell version...

You mean Dante Quote must die mode. (Dang kids and their lack of DMC-not-remake knowledge)

Hell or and Hell mode was actually a mode that was first included in Devil May Cry 4, I believe. It was basically the Son of Sparda difficulty, but you would die if you took any damage.

This is a very interesting thing you've done here. In a way it's easier, but in another it's harder. I found that when playing this, the Bubbler is the most powerful weapon. But then I got addicted to it, which made me rely on it alone and not be used to using any other, which led to me really biting it once I got to Labyrinth M and the armor Gaudis started throwing stuff that the Bubbler couldn't block, and that's as far as I went.

Out of curiosity, what made you decide to take time out of your busy schedule of working on WTF? Story to dedicate a day to making and testing this mod?

It took about 10 minutes to make and an hour or so to test/play through.
