I liked flow better because of the art direction, which is more or less the only way to discern the two games.

That's not true, you only liked flow better because you could turn into a cat, didn't you?

I've remembered another game that's kind of like Yume Nikki: the original Echo Night on Playstation. Randomly ran into a stream of it a while back. If you like YN because it doesn't always try to be super scary and it's really hard to figure out what you're actually supposed to do next, you may like it as well.

.flow Soundtrack

I liked the music in .flow, so I took all the songs, looped them up to 3 minutes, and numbered them mostly in order. Contains Readme for the credits, etc. Have fun listening. :3

I happened to find this game randomly, and lo and behold, there's a thread about it. I thought it was very interesting, but that's just it. It's supposed to be surreal (and dare I say thought-provoking?), but not scary. Scary is Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I have yet to finish that game.

Surrealness combined with voids make for extremely scary games. You're wandering in nothing and any second ANYTHING could just pop up.
But I'm also scared of Nonstandard Game Overs so yeah.
Also .flow > Yume 2kki. It's less filled with puzzle solving. Bleh. I can get things in .flow by exploring, but you NEED a guide to get some effects in 2kki. Moon logic man. Or maybe I'm just slow.

-Have no weapons or any way to defend yourself
-Barely any music; mostly just noises and drones here and there
-Lengthy periods of exploration in dark rooms
-Can only use light for so long before you run out of oil
-Abominations that pop up unexpectedly

as far as I can tell, that's the point: you're supposed to spend a hellishly long time playing this game, trying to figure out shit

thank god for the guides or I would probably still be playing it
and it would still be haunting my dreams

I tried using a guide for a while. It was fucking wrong, so I just went and played the game.
