(Nobody has seemed to have done a thread like this yet, I searched the forums before I started this...)

What are some of the stupidest deaths (can be infuriating or hilarious) you've ever had when you played through Cave Story?

Here are some of mine:
-Several times when running hell, I've somehow managed to boost directly into the spikes when trying to avoid/maneuver around butes.
-This epic fail of Heavy Press that I happened to record...
-I managed to be killed by the first textbox in Sacred Grounds, it happened right when I was jumping and when it closed I, now distracted by the textbox, landed right in the spike pit.

Anyone want to share their stupid deaths?

The door, and the first spike.

Though curiosity with the white creature (Named "Basil") at the bottom of the un-destroyed Egg Corridor is a personal choice for me.

EDIT: When you mentioned the Heavy Press, I was anticipating the failure to move from underneath it and therefore insta-death, but it turns out you just died from a Bute... anticlimactic.

Investigating Basil.
Drowning abovewater in the Core room.
Exploring the great unknown right side of the Outer Wall map.
Trying to fly up to the Last Cave by myself.

I drowned in Mimiga Village.

My head wasn't even in the water.

Hmm well I guess I was curious and it was intentional Let's see...

I tried to rest in Santa's house but I accidentally fell into the spike pit. And I don't recall saving.

Another one that I remember having:
-After taking the rocket up to Last Cave for the first time, I stayed on it too long and promptly got Pressed.

Drowning in the Reservoir is a bit dissapointing.

Imagine if the story just ended with Quote drowning in the reservoir.

Let's see...

The Door
The first press in Egg Corridor
Basil
Chinfish
Mahin the Deity
Santa's Deathtrap
Fighting the Core
Not getting off the rocket to the Last Cave on time

Yep that's pretty much it.

I don't believe I've actually died this way myself, but I think other users mentioned getting killed by Toroko in the shack before. : p

I think one time I was playing Easy Mode and it was near deathless until I fell into a deathspike...
Which is pathetic.

- Repeated death spike deaths
- Dying by the presses in the Execution Room
- Getting smashed by a block
- Monster X
- Getting killed by the Jellies
- Jumping into the corner of the Heavy Press on my first time through Hell (it was the eShop version)
- Assassin Critter II, the sequel nobody wanted but got anyways...

I got smashed by a big blue critter, and then I attempted to fight curly with the bubbler.

Yep, this happened to me my first playthrough.

Also, the first time I entered hell, I simply took one step out onto the spikes and didn't even try to boost. I just simply fell into the first set of spikes and died. My next few tries weren't a whole lot more successful.

If there was someone here who hasn't been caught out by that first spike then I would be very surprised.

That one block gap in the floor on the way to Mr. Little's house was horrible years back when I first did it with the Booster 2.0. I would cross over it, fall through it, boost too late, miss the narrow hole by 4 pixels on the way up, run out of boost, fall and die. So I decided to simply be faster on the booster, but confusing left movement at the top with upwards boosting I boosted left against the wall of the hole, ran out of boost, and died. When I finally got inside the house to return Mr. Little I had to go back out the same way, and died.

I also jumped over the spike pit in Grasstown only to be knocked backwards by a critter into the pit. I hadn't saved beforehand.

The very first time I came close to beating Ballos on hard with polar star only. I had him to a couple more hits with polar star and I got nervous, my fingers twitched causing me to fall off and get myself killed by an arrow. -.-

Literally started out, ran left and got instagibbed by the spikes.

I was extremely, extremely careful about everything after that.

1. the death on the first spike 2. the door. 3. the white thing moving across the floor in Egg Corridor(this one in particular being very stupid because I intentionally ran into it just to see what it would do(I was stupid like that))

For me, it was ignoring the npc warning me about Basil and trying to kill him while I was trying to get the health capsule in the beginning of Egg Corridor.
Even worse, I was playing the demo on the Wii when I first discovered Cave Story (I thought it was a NES game!) where there were no saves, so I had to play from the begining all over again.

Why does everyone seem to compare CS to the NES? It's much more akin to a SNES game if anything.
