Why does the demon crown have a red eye?

Old topic!

Maybe one who wears it can see through it...?

Or it's just a glass ball with a back dot on it (possibly magically enhanced)?

Or does it possess the power or the crown?

Or maybe Pixel just put it there because?

...Or it hasn't had any eye drops for that long.

Aesthetics are a thing
It's probably like the gems that are found on jewelry and crowns and stuff

It's meant to symbolize/is literally Ballos' left eye.

For anyone that's read the novelization of Cave Story (which I'm positive almost no one has, because it's not exactly the most popular CS fanfic or anything), the author made direct reference to the possibility that the eye on the crown was Ballos's eye, except in much more...graphic detail.
He opened his eyes: His right eye was a very deep ruby-red, though his left eye was pitch-white. His red eye seemed familiar to Quote, and he knew exactly from where: the red jewel that was the centrepiece for the Demon Crown. Misery had ripped his left eye out, and placed it into the crown, which gave it its incredible power.
Not that anything on fanfiction is ever a credible source but...

As for the eye, it's certainly possible it was some jewel created for the purpose of 'concentrating' the power of the Demon Crown, or maybe it even has a connection to the rted crystal, though I seriously doubt it...

Most likely it was created so that the crown wouldn't look bland and lacking when it was made into a sprite.

It's possible Ballos installed the eye on it as some sort of ocular camera. Where he has the ability to access sight from the crown itself. The same could possibly be said about presses, rollings, and the Heavy Press. The red eyes in rabid mimigas and possibly Misery are side effects from Ballos' cursed magic.

Maybe, the eye of this unused CS sprite is all that remains of the eye's owner. Rather than Ballos popping out an extra eye; maybe the cyclops-like creature's eye had some kind of magic potential used for enchanting. Furthermore, maybe Misery had a hand in the crown's creation? Like she brought him a special crown, and forced Ballos to "make the crown", into an enchanted crown?

Alternately... maybe an important question : why does the Door have a red eye...
Scary new boss : Eyes appear on everything, and everything it appears on hurts you lol

I always thought it was for Ballos to see what actions Date was doing when he did anything. (I bet he was glad when the doctor smacked Misery in the face.)

At the very least it must be symbolic of the Ballos/crown link.

The Red Eye in the Demon Crown is obviously the link to Ballos, if you forgot about his shirt, but also the red eye he has, probably.
