Alright guys?

I gave up on Illustrated...Cause it was crap.
In fact I've given up on all of my mods but I'm starting to make one that I doubt I'll be giving up on anytime soon.

It's called "Pirate - The untold story"

It's basically about this guy called Pirate who lives in a shed. He doesn't have a job or anything. Just a table and a laser knife.

He lives in the small town of Velveton. His life won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Until one day, after waking up with a massive hangover...
Who knew a parking inspector could change your life for the better?
Pirate's Segway is taken away, for it was incorrectly parked. He meets Bobby Sprinkles and Foxi Shanola, Sworn enemies to the parking inspectors. Pirate gets dragged along to get some hot nuggets of revenge!
Loads of adventure, plot developements and drivel will ensue!

By the way, the backgrounds are from winamp. If you have winamp on your computer, there should be a little tab that shows "Visualization". There are hundreds of little patterns that you can get while playing music.

So why is this mod better than Illustrated?

(1) Because Illustrated was crap (In my opinion)
(2) The backgrounds won't make your eyes bleed
(3) There is new music
(4) Story line that's less like cave story.

Please enjoy the crap out of this mod and send me any feedback!

Once again, thank you for letting me pre-test the mod Uncy. This was a great experience, the levels were fun, and the boss setting is nice. Very humorous, and cunningly creative. I would highly suggest trying this mod out, it's pretty awesome.

Are there any fixes or any changes that I need to know about for this version of the mod, Uncy?

Just minor ones really.
They're all just fixes in graphics and such.
I got Wedge of Cheese to test as well for a second opinion about it. He suggested a few things like changing the segway sprite cause it was way too small.
It won't make much of a difference if you play this demo as well really.

I didn't actually add much before I stopped. A quit a long time ago.
There were lots of bugs and I just wasn't happy with it.
I'm not gonna work on it anytime soon.
If I feel like it and once I've finished this one, I might completely remake the mod.
It probably won't happen though

I thought Illustrated was an incredibly sexy idea too D: I hope that someday you/someone will try and use that idea again. Although it looks like you've drawn the facepics for this anyways :>

PIRATE SPOILERS

-The music and background give first part a real NES-y feel, and the Laser Knife is cooool~
-After the Pharmacy scene, the music doesn't come back, and the Pub can no longer be entered. Also, OWL NOISES!!
-Aah! Violence! And skipflags!
-... It also has very bad range D: Since it doesn't "hit" the boss properly, he takes a long time to go down, and if you muck up one jump... erk. The guy at the far left in the boss fight also doesn't spawn unless you move over there.
-In the scene following the boss fight, the music again doesn't play unless you go into a building and re-enter Velveton.
-Still no range... although Foxi is very helpful provided she's with you.
-Orangebell...? Well that's different... if a bit on the easier side. I hope the Laser Knife doesn't get weaker as it levels up, but it didn't seem to when it did. Is there some way to detect when the bats die so that they can respawn, or are they part of the Orangebell entity?
-Your right hand? HA HA HA, that's golden. And that is the end of that. Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh...

Overall I didn't really see any serious bugs (or many at all), and the music fits very well, actually better than I expected. The art and sprites are nicely done, and the dialogue is brilliant, although a bit short on the full-stops. It's nice to see another really great mod come out, even if mod progress overall is a bit slow...

Yeah you're right, I ought to fix the music things.

I didn't actually intend the laser knife to be levelled up. I looked at Dooey's assembly guide for changing the way weapons level up but unfortately, it didn't prove to be useful for the nemesis. Basically I wanted it to level backwards.

The little bats that are a part of orangebell are part of the entity but are also slightly seperate. You can make more of them spawn by using <CNP to change it to orangebell.
It'll only change the giant bat itself, thus making more smaller bats spawn.

I made a much better version of a boss fight like that in Illustrated. It didn't have any of those falling spikes. Basically you move along on moving blocks because there are spikes all over the floor. There's a second block that can also push you off unless you jump over it. While you do so, it triggers an H/V trigger that fires balrog missles at you.
I might change it to that in the next demo.

As a unique touch to the mod, I wanted to have melee weapons like the laser knife. There'll be another one for the alternate character but you'll have to wait.
I can't really change the range much. The laser knife is at the absolute minimum range it can go so If I change it, it'll become a little bit long ranged.

I didn't know about the thing about not being able to enter the pub after the pharmacy scene...I'll look into that. There were a few unexplanable errors in the developement.
For example, all the parking inspectors in the town dissapear after the first boss. What I wanted was for them to become hostile ones. Oh well.

I'm glad you liked the mod so far. I don't plan on quitting it. Although in the beggining I didn't plan on quitting any of my other's...
I'm almost certain that I won't be quitting this one.
I aim to make this mod the first ever completed mod.
Apart from all the time trail ones, minor edits and such of course

Okay, it was fun. And I got the new gun with absolutely no explanation. Also, because of the first screenshot, I though Pirate had a big bushy mustache. Let me reiterate:

I suppose it's quite difficult.
Did you get the health upgrade?
Guadi's and such are probably the most difficult enemies when you don't have much health.

I might make it a little easier if it's just too difficult.
I wouldn't really say that this is the hardest mod ever though....

Oh yeah!
And there will be an alternate character next Chapter.
