So, this little console has been out for a while: https://www.ouya.tv/
If you don't know what the OUYA is, its basically this small video game console that runs android. They almost have 993 games on the appstore, and it has received lukewarm reviews ever since it came out of kickstarter. So, what are you thoughts on the Ouya?

Do you think its neat?

Do you own one?

Do you think cave story+ should come out for it?

Well, discuss all you want below, I guess.

It's not just the crappy games you'll come across in the app store?

speaking as someone who owns an OUYA, don't buy it it's shit
Hey, I have an OUYA, and I love it!
I mainly use it for

-Emulation
-XBMC Media Center
-Watching Youtube videos

Although, to be fair, almost 50% of the titles on the OUYA store are crap.
I mostly just use the OUYA for the stuff I listed above, Although Towerfall and Bombsquad are great ouya games
its a shame that they have been both released outside of the ouya

So 3 things that can be used without an OUYA?
Not very... convincing.

Which is similar to why I only have like, one mobile device (my deactivated cell phone) compared to some people with a cell phone, PDA, tablet, iPod, and a pager in possession.

I did too, until I hacked my Wii and started emulating on there.
-XBMC Media Center
ok
-Watching Youtube videos
is there a modern device on the planet that /doesn't/ watch them?

You made my point for me.

I kind of feel bad for the little thing. Its trying to make its start but it can't really compete with all the bigger consoles like the Wii U and the PS4.

Honestly I'm surprised that no one made an ouya thread before now...it's been out for a long time and most gamers know at least what it is.
I might get one just for the sake of easy emulation. Using my iPad for emulation is ok, but having no controller is really annoying.

I'm pretty sure most if not all of the MFi controllers are less than $100, and assuming that you're jailbroken you could just get a tweak for around $3 and use a ps3/4 or wii remote instead. You could also buy a used wii and just install homebrew, even though you may missout on something like psx emulation.

If I haven't made myself clear all of these options are cheaper than buying an ouya.

Well, can an 8 year old develop for the Wii?

The ouya is one for game developers. Like seriously, the OUYA company even posted a series of videos about how to develop games.

If an 8 year old wanted to do that, they'd be better off with game maker or mmf2 or what ever else they find on the internet.

You're not supposed to be publishing games when you're 8
That's the time to practice with mini projects and learn how to make good games
