In light of recent events (and the fact that they seem to have fried my network card) I thought I'd spark something else to maybe talk about. This is a concept minimod idea I had a while ago. It works as such: You start with 50 health (+ two free hits to get up to speed) and need to survive for as long as possible by picking up hearts using the level 3 Machine Gun. It is somewhat unavoidably RNG, but I'm happy will the balance of survival potential I've found. I've lasted up to 1'30 on this, while adding any more enemy spawners means it becomes possible to last more or less indefinitely.

Great mod! It's actually possible to make it less RNG, by making the game itself determine what pickup you get next, alternating between Heart and EXP, so that you get an equal amount of each. Keep it up!
Maybe add some other types of enemies, e.g. red bats from Last Cave, that give less EXP, so that you can't survive indefinitely without any effort. PM me either on CSTSF or discord if you want help for the non-RNG enemy drops.

Thanks it was really hard, I haven't been modding for very long ._.;;;;;

Having consistent hearts I feel might make survival times too similar, if everyone is losing health at almost the same rate. I don't really want a bunch of small useless exp crystals chewing up entity slots either, quick refills are the goal.

Anyway here's my best now, uploaded via attachment because my own computer's internet still isn't working :orangebell: :orangebell: :orangebell:

If more people keep playing I'll put up a scoreboard tomorrow morning.

How about adding more types of enemies, since it gets boring killing the same enemy multiple times to try and get RNG on your side. :critter:

The RNG is really killing me here. No hearts at all for ten seconds in the middle of a good run happen way too often. Infuriating :sue:

I thought the NPCs got less frequent with time but then I realized I was probably hitting the entity cap
I can probably improve i'm satisfied with this unless someone shows me up
