Are you a poor sap who spends their nights alone, playing Gang Garrison 2, just wishing you had the glory of a full Team Fortress game?
Well despair no more, citizens, because I have some news. Are you sitting down? Good.

Team Fortress 2 is now free, in it's entirety, forever.

Did you stand up? Did you do a little dance? I know I did, and heck, I already own the game.
Now we can have free tf2 cave story forum parties and everything.

Also, Meet the Medic is out.

How can you go on the internet or play video games at all without hearing about TF2, one of the most super-hyped and exploited video games ever?

I'm talking gmod videos, countless pieces of fanart, Valve in general..etc etc etc.

Valve is so underground. You thought Pixel was indie? He's got nothing on Gabe.

The problem with dry humor is that if you point it out you look like a doofus.

I play both, GG2 is still better, aside from the fact that not very many people play it anymore

TF2 parties? Sounds good.

Also I feel bad for people who just bought the game in the past few days.

"TF2 is free for the week? Cool, let's try it."
"Hey this game is awesome, I should buy it now so I don't have to worry once the week is over."

Well, they do get a new one-of-a-kind hat that none of the free users will get now...
And hats are everything.

Also, I'm pretty sure this Free TF2 thing is making Steam horrendously slow. I could not even use non-default weapons tonight, it was that bad.
Of course, what do you expect... Everyone's gonna scramble for this, they're gonna be so overloaded for awhile.

Seems like a good time for me to leave for a week.
Perfect timing, really, but I'm going to miss the chance to say "why do I have this special hat? Because I'm not you!" because most of the free players will say "meh" after a week, and abandon it forever.
I was discussing this with Yakkers, and it's most likely that many noncommited free players will be jarred by how different TF2 is compared to other fps's (CoD, Halo, etc.) and just give up on it entirely. The demographic of "users who really wanted the game but didn't have $10 to spend on it," the demographic most likely to stick with the game once it downloads, is incredibly small. It's $10. If you have a computer that can run TF2 just fine, then it's more than likely you'd have 10 spare dollars to spend on a game.

Checking the free-to-play FAQ, it stated that free members won't find "rare or cosmetic items." I'm assuming "cosmetic items" means hats, pins, badges, etc., but rare items? What classifies a rare item? Does it mean genuine items, the kind you get as an in-game promotion for another game?
Heck if I know.
Also, 50 backpack slots lol

ITT: gamers without computers that can run a four-year-old game.
Why are there so many of you?

Yes.

Also, hooray. I don't like this game very much, but I'm proud to be one of the few here who can run it.
Maybe I'll give it another chance someday.
