The same point can be made about you proving the voice was only talking to the player and not Quote too.

Everything that isn't a... um... status message? Yeah, that'll do. Everything that isn't a status message is heard (or read) by Quote. Since that backstory is not a status message, it's most likely heard by Quote and therefore talking to him. Further more, it would be the dreaded fourth wall breaking only if those messages were aimed at the player himself.
