So after reading a guide on the game, I've missed out on a lot of stuff. I traded my gun in for the Machine Gun, so now I won't get to try the other two in this save, I got the booster 0.8, so I'll miss the end-game level AND the good ending, and apparently I missed the two rope, and have killed off Curly. Is the Machine Gun fine for beginners? Is the Good ending worth seeing enough to start again from the beginning? And is Curly important to the story or make the game easier? I might have messed up other things that will have an effect on later events, but I'm not gonna look ahead in the guide and spoil anything to find out. So, worth starting over now? Or should I continue through and just do a better job next time? ;)

And please, don't reply just to say "It's up to you." I KNOW it's up to me, but I can't decide, if I could, I wouldn't be posting, would I? You don't have to give me a straight yes or no, but at least give me a little info to help me decide. (Without spoiling anything too major please!) :D

And thanks to anyone who helps! :p

You might as well finished what you started. You won't want to go back to the normal playthrough once you've learned of... Right, no spoilers. I'll refrain, don't worry... I never have went back to the normal playthrough myself, yet...

EDIT: As for the Machine Gun choice on your first playthrough, it's a great choice. If you level it up to Lv. 3 and fire downwards while you're in midair, you'll see what I mean.

Glad I could help.

And Curly doesn't really make the game easier, but she doesn't make things particularly harder, either. She does play an important role if she lives, however.

So in other words, yes, it does have a large impact on the story? :p

Obviously the ending will stay mostly the same though, I heard there are three, and none of them seem to involve Curly dieing. (Didn't read what they were, just how to get them.) :)

Spoiler free huh? Lets see...

The path to the holy land:
- In the realm of the Gaudi you must ignore a professor in his time of need.
- Good things come to those who jump off red things.
- The tides consume you? Search for the glimmer.
- In the path of water you must find a door, such will help not you but another.
- When amnesia strikes again search the cavern of the fallen.
- Mushrooms hate you.
- A small room on a balcony holds a great secret as everything else falls apart.

:D

And play the normal ending first before doing this.

i personally think for a first play thorugh the good ending compared to the best ending, because you get a feel for the story.

Haha! Thanks, I hope I'll remember these when they actually make sense, although I recognize at least one that I passed already...

Not sure exactly what you mean by this, could you clarify for me?

Sorry.... ^_^"

I just think its better to go through the game and get each ending because it makes the game more fun, and on your first try just play the game normally, and on your second play through use the walkthrough to get the best possible ending

That's not spoiler free at all. Your clues make it pretty obvious really. But the way of presenting it is pretty good though. :p

@AZ: Play the game through. CS is so mutch fun that you'll never get bored of it no matter how many times you play it, trust me.

In my opinion you should start again. When I play a game I start liking every character and I hate it when one of my favorite characters die. It was hard for me that the professor died but I was really sad when my favorite character died.
Well, maybe it's just me, but I definitely would start again.
But Cave Story is even fun without some secrets!

Anyway, thanks, I think I will just play it though this time. :)

Oh and check out the bad ending:
At the end of a newly ruined passage of the savage young, a brother will find a newborn and give you a choice. Save first though so you can continue on to the normal ending. :)

I am getting good at this stuff. :p
