How the heck do i get into the Sacred ground? I've...
-Saved curly and restored her memory
-Got the Booster 2.0
-Got the spur

Do i have to go through the whole "Misery-Doctor-Wimpier doctor-Undead core" Spiel without getting hit? Do i have to get the nemesis? Where did i go wrong?

Did you get the Iron Bond? (i.e., did you talk to Curly once again after giving her the Ma Pignon?)

Oh well, suppose i can just hack my way in. sure, it's cheap, but it appears to be the only way, save totally starting over.

A reasonable assumption, but it's fortunately incorrect. Where is your last save, the Balcony? It is quite possible to go back through the Final Cave and drop straight down through the line of deathtraps to get back to Plantation. Of course, you'll have to redo the final bosses again, but thems the breaks.

By the way, did you notice that the Butes with swords attack just like King did to Balrog in the flower storehouse and the Mesa throw blocks like Frenzied Toroko? :)

That's not bad for your first playthrough, mine was almost eight minutes. :p

First time I played Hell successfully I did it cautious as heck. Took me 15 minutes. So 6 or so is pretty darned good for a first try.

Yeah SERIOUSLY. 6 minutes for the first try?!!!!!! That is insane in my opinion because till now more than 3 years I still can't finish it in 6 minutes O_o

Some people seem to have steeper learning curves for games.

It's the level at which the curve flattens out that matters!

I think mine is leveling out already, though I'm still convinced I have the ability to beat my current Hell time (3'46" or something) if I get lucky enough and if I play a bit more recklessly. Like, screw cycling Ballos 1st form and just go for the point-blank bladespamming, go for the deleets first even if it means risking getting hit, etc.

Oookay rambling anyway yeah, nice job for a first run.

as i said, i would have never made it past the labyrynth otherwise. i'll do a honest run on my 2nd playthrough.
This run was largely just a "Training wheels" run. as i said, i struggle with the first mario game.

Well, that's why I did Hell like fifty times before I finally beat it. You go at it enough times without training wheels, ultimately you just get better at it.

Without the snake, I don't think I could get through Sacred Grounds without cheating... but with the snake, I just can't do enough damage to Ballos... quite the conundrum, ne?

The use a different weapon against Ballos – the super missiles, or the Nemesis, for example/

The best weapon against Ballos, when you don't have the Spur, is Curly's Levelproof Nemesis. I say use her as much as you can. Especially against the fourth form.
