Rainmeter is a piece of software that allows you to create and place "skins" onto your desktop. These skins can do all sorts of things from showing the time and date, weather, CPU usage, Ram usage, networking, note taking, audio spectrum visualizers, controlling media, and a lot more!

Linky!

The possibilities are almost endless, and can be extended through DLLs and other small software to be able to track more things like GPU usage and CPU temperatures.

Anyways, I guess people can share their own creations here, of either how did you customize your desktop or what skin did you create.

Here are my own skins I've made:
Hyper Bits 3.0 //minimalistic modular system monitor
Gravis 3.0 //awesomesauce audio spectrum visualizer; there is a pending update to improve the "flow", but I've been procrastinating ^_^;
Boosh 3.0 //bass audio spectrum circular visualizer
Edge 1.0 //high-res minimalistic audio spectrum visualizer
