Quick "Whimsical Star" Question

If I got the Turbocharge for my Machine Gun, am I unable to get the Whimsical Star?

On another note, am I unable to upload an avatar until I reach a certain post count?

Whimsical star is exculsively an add-on for the Spur. And it can be got only after you acquire the spur, so the only way to do it is if you save booster

By the looks of it this guy is gonna have a real hard time in the hidden last cave with the machine gun.

 

I never even knew the whimsical star existed, or what it did. I thought that it was a weapon that was meant to be in cave story, but Pixel never put it in, so it was an empty weapon hex or whatever in the file.


I'm going to go back and play through cave story to get this.

Shouldn't nemesis be almost as useful in the final cave as the Spur? They both start out at max damage...

 

Spur and nemesis are both useful in final cave, but spur moreso as it's still hard to evade exp pieces even in final cave; Nemesis would be more useful against red demon, since Nemesis is better for raw damage dealing. Also as there aren't any exp pieces except when you beat it the Nemesis doesn't have a chance of leveling up.

 

Both Blade and Machine can be useful at low levels. But the weapons they can be compromised for are probably better for the hard ending.
