There are some awesome cartoons, but few of them teach morality, or education without being boring. I use the word "quality" in this sense. What were/are your favorite quality cartoons?

This (Albert Barillé: Once upon a Time Life) inspired me to be a doctor while in kindergarten:

This one (Niels Holgersson) teaches positive values:

This cartoon teaches the kids to never ████████████ or ███████ too early.

But more seriously, I remember "the great adventure" bible cartoons back in the day.

they taught me some pretty good stuff.

I have a whole bunch of Veggie Tales cartoons hidden away in a box...I used to watch them a lot

When you said "educational", the first thing that came to mind was Magic School Bus, heh heh. I didn't watch it a lot though. I remember watching a cartoon called Cyber Chase that was basically had something to do with kids going on epic missions and they had to use math to defeat the villains. It actually wasn't cheesy - no tights, as far as I can remember. If I watched it now though I bet I wouldn't see it the same way.

Captain Planet did a pretty good job in that department.

Veggie tales! I remember that, those where great.... Besides that and somewhat of Thomas the Tank engine, I really don't remember most moral tv shows when I was younger. All I do remember is ed, edd, and eddy, and code lyoko, and may even magic school bus.

The fact I don't remember many moral tv shows probably explains a lot....

Oh yeah I watched a lot of Veggie Tales. Including the Larry Boy show. Man that was silly.

Arthur was pretty good.

And of course who could forget Xiaolin Showdown? That was some quality television. (not really but it was a great show)

I watched Cyberchase too, it was a silly kids show but probably still better than Captain Planet.
Most of the VeggieTales shows just seem silly now but my favorite was the parody of Don Quixote. That one still holds up because it's still funny. "Asparagus of La Mancha". It even had a less obvious/corny moral at the end: listen to your friends because they might have some really good advice.

I dunno, CGI stuff just freaks me out, and talking vegetables doesn't exactly help either D:

I don't know if the cartoons I'll mention will exactly fit the bill for this thread, but I was a huge fan of Hey Arnold and Rugrats (still am). I really preferred shows that were somewhat realistic while still maintaining some cartoon logic, and had a good message with well developed characters. Stuff that is just over the top cartoon mischief and lack of any meaning bored me to death and annoyed me (I couldn't stand Ed, Edd, and Eddy, for example). Things that teach us things have more substance, I think.

And ofc, educational shows like The Magic School Bus were great.

it teaches the most important lessons, such as how french people smell bad and the importance of equality of human-walrus relationships.

I had the game on the Sega Genesis. I didn't know it was a cartoon until much later. Then I watched a few episodes on youtube, to see what the hell it was. It's great solely because of the ridiculous amount of bad puns, innuendos, and bad pun innuendos.
