Man, so awesome to finally be seeing this happen. Some of my fondest memories with video games came from Sapphire and Ruby, so I'm really excited to revisit these and see how much they hold up. With the great improvements to the formula made in X & Y, I can tell this is going to be spectacular. November of this year, eh? That's not too long from now, pretty neat.

I saw this thread and thought it was a ROM hack or something when I read the title. Then, when I read this sentence, my jaw literally dropped, as I hadn't checked gaming shit on the internet yet today, and Pokemon Emerald is one of my favorite games ever (I never was that into Pokemon, but I loved Emerald for some reason I don't know). Maybe they mean they're adding the new features and stuff from X and Y, like they did with Heartgold and Soulsilver? That would be kinda cool, with the Mega Evolutions and things of that sort. It might also be able to connect with it, for trading and battles, since it's a remake and won't actually add any Pokemon that weren't in X or Y. So yeah, maybe that's what they mean by new?

Yeah. Unpopular opinion time: Mega evos are cheap as hell. Although they look pretty cool I guess.

Despite the appeal of remakes as an excuse to print more money I really wasn't sure if there were going to do gen 3 considering it's still connected to the current metagame. This actually interests me more than gen 6 because I'd like to see what they're updating/adding to it. I'll probably follow the game information more closely as it's unveiled, but ultimately it's still going into the box of "not worth getting a 3DS for".

Post game firered and leafgreen. I haven't actually played them, but isn't there some islands there that was introduced in the remakes? I feel like they're going to do that, but better.
