I just installed the game today, I have never played it before and wanted to try it, except I have no sound :(

I tried both the original download and the deluxe, I just finished uninstalling/reinstalling both my audio and video card drivers, no luck. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64x.

When I click on the "Volume" option in the game window, this message appears:
diph.php

Any ideas? Really hoping I can play this game with the full experience :p

Hard to tell what's the issue... But, first note there is no sound until you reach the title screen.

You could try right clicking on your windows audio icon that should be in the Windows Start Menu, status bar.
Choose Open Volume Mixer, and look for Cave Story to appear, and make sure the volume is correct. If you don't hear it, note if it looks like it *trying* to output sound in the volume mixer.

And of course make sure you can hear music from other games and from Windows.
You can always try compatibility modes too... perhaps someone else knows more~

And if the computer is a Desktop and you have no speakers or headphones, it's mostly normal for no sound to pass through.

Lol, I have headphones. I tried all the compatibility modes, those didn't work.

I did get a new sound card, so that could be the issue. Hopefully I just have to mess with the config and not that it's defective. Don't really know where to start though.

Did you properly mount it on the PCI expansion slot?

Yes, I believe so. It's tough to say because I don't have any good headphones that support virtual 5.1/7.1 besides the current one I am using, which is USB, so it's not even really using the sound card.

I tried Cave Story using some regular analog headphones, but those didn't work either.

I uninstalled it, restarted my PC, installed it again and now it's working.. lol

Thank you for the help though! Really appreciate it ^_^

Let me ask the basics;

At what point is it apparent the audio has failed?

Can you re download the game?

Did you make sure it was not muted in audio mixer?

Did you check to see if there wasn't some setting in the config file checked?

Is your computer plugged in?
