White.

One of the most un-listened to songs, yet such a personal favourite. I hacked one of my profile.dat's just to sit there for half an hour listening to it.

I vote White. It's the only song I've actually decided to not replace in Schism... in all fairness, it was almost not used in the original game, so... :D

Also, am I the only wacko on here who actually never cared much for Doukutsu's boss music? Final Battle is great and Oppression is fitting, but I never liked the others too well for whatever reason... just weren't catchy enough. Maybe I'm just weird like that. :)

Oppression will always be my favorite, an obvious fact seeing as I can't shut up about it in the WiiWare thread, but judging on the nuances of the song, and how the different beats come together to form the whole, I'd have to say Eyes of Flame is the most well written song.

I'm really starting to appreciate the music in the final cave (appropriately entitled "Last Cave"). I sure hope the Wiiware version does it justice.

By far, I believe Geothermal or Living Waterway.

The melody in both songs are just beautiful.

White is the best in my opinion. Second best is moonsong.

My favorite is probably Mischievous Robot.

The first time I heard it I thought it was the coolest song ever.

Thanks.

I also like Labyrinth Fight because it's pretty upbeat and that stage is one of my favorites.

What does you liking it have to do with how well-written it is?

Slippery

Those two kinda blur together, I guess.
Unless you're a music teacher or something and dislike the song, but can appreciate how well it was written, I think you'd like what you'd vote for.
And I'm going to change my vote from White to Eyes of Flame, just because of how awesome those rapid low notes sound.
None of the other songs really have anything like it.

I guess it's a matter of perception really.

If it's a song I think is written well odds are I'm going to like it.

For me, probably either Gestation, Geothermal, or Safety.

Gestation's the best, although it's an odd title. I'm listening to...um...Gestation?

Nobody likes Oppression. Nobody. Oh well.

Are we allowed to cite Beta music? There's some real greatness in the unused. Ice Fortress for one, that's well-made. And Iron Head is just as good as Oppression.

Few of you are likely to know what I'm talking about. http://wray.umu.cc used to have the beta music, but I just checked and they took it down. Orgs were uploaded on http://cavestory-stuff.org, but that is also down. So at the risk of undue advertising, you can hear all the beta themes in my OrgView Hack, linked to in my sig. But it'll be worth it for all involved.

How come I have all these files that apparently shouldn't exist?
like all the beta muic, and org 2.05 english when nobody else seemed to be able to find it.

like, huh?

I know I've said this before, but favorite beta music is oppression first.
so good.

Wait, wait, wait.

NO ONE (save wedge o' cheese) LOVES OPPRESSION?!?!?

THE HELL?!?!?

I love that song!!!

Seriously, that song is so badass, I feel it should have been the final boss song. Not that the Last Battle isn't good, it's just not all that, well, evil sounding as oppression.

Opression just says "You are going to die, give up now!"

Okay, I'm done ranting.

Well, I dunno about that, as awesome as Oppression is, the Last Battle theme is just a wee bit better imo. If Oppression is the game saying "You are going to die, give up now!", then Final Battle is you saying "Me!? GIVE UP!?!? FUCK NO BITCH!!!!!"
