A machine to defend the passageway to the core, operated by a giant cat. Duh! ;) :D

What are you asking actually? About what machine is it or what is it(if it's not a machine)?

IMO, Monster X is a machine but having tons of Gaudis(they shoot the same weird projectiles, right?) in it by some sort of spell(Probably Jenka's).

It probably exists for the purpose of defending.... but defending what?

No, he is Pixel-Cat's cousin who decided to make a home in the Labyrinth. The machine he operates is actually a house on the inside. He attacks Quote in a sort of 'Get the hell of my lawn' gesture.
He doesn't do this to the Gaudis because they are a sort of wildlife of the area. They're basically the equivalent of a deer on the lawn to him.

...That actually makes sense... ;)

...when I hear that I think of Dynamite Headdys freaking cat/bear thing...

Maybe they are related? Both seem to love using machines to do there work...

Monster X must be from the Sonic X universe! It's a robotink creation, where an innocent little kitty was placed in a killer machine to protect the core of Angel Island!

or maybe not ... hmmmmmmm

Monster X got pissed off at the Core fight, so he decided to make everyone feel his pain by making a nigh-unstoppable death machine.

I'm inclined to say that Monster X is actually the hardest boss in the game besides Ballos. I had a hell of a time trying to beat him the first time (using the polar star, at that). Then I switched to the blade, and everything was better.
Same thing with me, except the first time through I had the Machine Gun. The Blade was also helpful against Pooh Black, since he's never in one place long enough for the Machine Gun to do much. Monster X isn't that hard in my opinion, with the blade it only takes a couple of tries.

I had a really hard time with Monster X on my first time through, but now that I have an idea on how to do it it's much easier. Level 2 Blade is your best friend in this battle, it clears the four things in the first half of the battle fast while still deflecting most of the attacks fired at you, and you can do 200-300 damage a pop with it every time it opens after that. (If you have a quick finger.) So that's my weapon of choice for it. ^_^

I like to use the Level 3 Bubbler, but if I level down I'll usually switch to the Blade.

Nah the core fight was the hardest besides Ballos, especially without the machine gun (which was how it was when I first played). Drowning, getting blasted against a wall only to lose 20hp from three near unavoidable balls of light, more drowning, the core constantly shielding behind invincible mini cores, the core hiding behind a wall whenever you try to get under it, even more drowning, not fun.

Use the bubbler to take out gaudi and projectiles and the blade for monster-x itself. Lvl.3 blade is good for taking out the eyes, but you'd want to be at lvl.2 by the time you are done with the eyes and are attacking monster-x itself.

Mmm I dunno. A lot's going on in the Core fight, but comparing how many tries it took me to get past the Core vs. getting past MX on 3HP... or if I recall the first time I played...

Definitely died a lot more on MX.
