Mojibake Fixing

I've been downloading tons of japanese mods from doukutsu uploader, and all of them have messed up japanese text (mojibake), so i can't read any of it. To get the text working, would i have to use a japanese copy of windows 98-xp on an old computer, or could i do something else (maybe hacking the exe to use different encoding?)

 

Set the system language to japanese. Specifically, somewhere in the settings of your computer you should be able to find an option that let's you run non-unicode programs in japanese. That's what you need to do.

Google would probably help you in figuring this out, if you haven't tried already.

Thank you, also, on the topic of playing japanese mods, has anyone played hakoniwa (a misery prequel) and beat it? if so, what do you do after you get to chacos house in sand-grass-town/zone?
EDIT:figured out what to do.

 

The version I've got of Hakoniwa is only a short demo which ends upon reaching the Outer Wall. Is it the same for you?

Yeah, it does for me to. I'm pretty sure the mod is cancelled, the last version was released in 2008. Sucks, i liked the demo.
