I say go for what the last six posts are discussing. That'd be great. :3

I still think it should be quarterly (every 3 months). The voting period needs to match the modding community's rate of producing a sufficient quantity of new nominable mods to ensure that the quality of the winning mods doesn't veer off a cliff over time.

so like, quickie guide but with actual updates
You can even include the posts I make in Mods General that are actually about said old mods that nobody reads

What would be the criterion for inclusion? Only new mods? Only mods that have been updated in the period? Isn't that what the Kanpachis do already except on a yearly basis? Is this paying no mind to the other thing CCl is running at the moment that hasn't even been resolved yet because he can't pay attention to one idea for more than a week?

Well the inclusion criteria so far seems to be "anything that hasn't won before" at the moment. I would suspect that everyone would mention the name of the mod they want to win, and then vote amongst the the most frequently mentioned of those.

It's probably my substantially unmotivated and rather lazy side of me saying this, but wouldn't a mod of the month come across as, well...redundant?
The aforementioned Kanpachis already do a perfectly fine job of giving special attention and praise to selected mods, not to mention having the process gone through every single month would c become an incredibly redundant and repetitive process very quickly.
If this is to be a thing, I would suggest, as others have, to allow greater intervals between said sessions, because having a mod awarded every single month not only comes with its select problems, but would really lose its impact after about the 2nd or 3rd month.
If I were to suggestion for the time in-between these contests though, I'd prefer every 4-months (1/3 of the year), just because voting time in addition to the reasons I stated previously.

/\ This

We hardly even get a mod a month.

But if this is for archived mods, then by all means we can have one once a month.

What will happen when a mod is voted... mod of the month(s)?
Will someone be writing up stuff about the mod? Reviewing it, promoting it?

Or is it going to be like somewhere it says :
Mod of the Month : Yeti Attack Story

with a link to the mod?

mmmmmmm
If it's going to be something like that, I might prefer an automatic randomly generated mod chosen from a list that changes daily? Or refresh? Maybe with a catchy quote for each?

Then again, bumping old mods is probably frowned upon... Mmm...

It would be nice to have a Steam-like large colorful button list, with description and download for fan favorite mods on the main site.
But, now I'm getting off-track...

==========================================================================
Anyway, what IS Mod of the Month supposed to be? How does it work, where will it be, and who will maintain it?
I can't really vote on it properly without knowing what it is... lol

Who will maintain it? If none of the staff will volunteer, HaydenStudios instantly comes to mind as someone capable.

Initially I voted against this idea because I felt it was a novelty, but given the number of people who are serious about this I'll definitely reconsider. If this is a go and people think me a suitable candidate to host it, then I'd gladly do so.

Given that the poll says every quarter and that this is the first month of Q2 2014 it might be worth starting nominations.

wait... wait...

Why the hell does it say I already voted on this...

EDIT: It's probably carried on by the previous poll, as other people have two votes in as well.

Yeah, apparently I voted for King's Story, because I voted on the previous poll.

Also, Coldcallerlopy, as much as I...admire your enthusiam, why do you get to decide which mods are elligible? Shouldn't we just not use the default, limited poll-system altogether and allow people to VOTE for the mods they want? Or what?

Edit: Although it is your idea, so it's fine I guess.

Woah! Slow down there.

1. It isn't Mod of the Month because it is quarterly.
2. We really need a new thread for each quarter period instead of tacking it onto this thread every time.
3. We should be accepting nominations right now, not votes.
4. Nominations would involve everyone posting the name of their favoured mod.
5. Voting should involve a poll of the most nominated mods.
6. There is no way this poll will ever encompass the full array of nominable entries. And the fact that you are doing it that way turns this whole thing into a "vote from my favourite mods" style affair.
7. Wrong section. This isn't exactly a forum suggestion thread once you start voting.

I've removed the poll. You can nominate over here.
