What would be made if Minecraft and Cavestory was mixed together?

Like in CS, how it would be like if there is crafting system?

Try to imagine:
Digging the outer wall sand block to make Anti-gravity gun, digging death trap to make Kanpachi's fishing pole, etc.
During the night, fight the frenzied mimigas and zombie sky dragons.
Explore the cave to defeat your ultimate nightmare: B****s.

ALL IN 2-D PIXEL ART STYLE. (sorta like Terraria

DISCUSS.

I guess it could be possible to make a gun that creates tiles. Or just use TSC. Fill the map with invisible entities, that create a tile when you shoot them. Of course it wouldn't be very dinamic, but that's as close as you can get to it without using assembly. And no man in his right mind likes to use assembly.

z80 or x80?

Anyway, this would be pretty creative. It's take a LOT of work though. Good luck.

Yeah, I like the sound of this idea. Another thing I think would be cool is a Cave Story Minecraft adventure map with a Cave Story themed texture pack.

Oh, and you could change the textures in CS and call that one as well....
This has become quite an interesting idea.

That'd be one hell of a tsc script, I hope you realize. Also this wouldn't be hard to make in assembly, really. I'd make it for you nao but I'm going to england :[

I've actually had a similar idea for a while (a gun that shoots blocks (idea predates block gun in wtf story >:E)) but that would be much, much harder to implement. For this you could just make one gun that produces blocks at the tip of the gun and one that destroys 'em.

Every entity needs a different event number that points to a different <CMP command. I suppose it's possible.

I guess I need to go get my brain checked.

Unless it was a linear, puzzle solving sort of game.
Where each map is editable to an extent, and each map has a set of blocks that you can use to solve a goal.

But that would take forever to design D:

I'm still waiting on a decent CS texture pack. I've seen ONE texture pack so far, and it had hardly any blocks.

Um, guys, I'm pretty sure this was intended to be a hypothetical discussion topic. "What would it be like if Minecraft and Cave Story had a babby". I could be wrong in this regard, but I don't see the need to get so bogged down in the technical aspects of what might be possible or feasible. Notice that this isn't the hacking/modding subforum.

Now pretend I said something ontopic in the space above

The guided exploration of Cave Story and the complete sandbox of Minecraft don't mix very well. You could take some ideas from Terraria, but then you'd just have Terraria with robots, wouldn't you. Roguelikes such as Nethack have defined progression through randomly generated levels, so look to those types of games for inspiration, not Minecraft.

Fuck you guys it's better than using assembly

In a way I agree with fab. Or is his name Steve. Whatever. Randomness doesn't fit the soul that cavestory has in it. Like I said before, each pixel you see is created manually. Pixel had to craft each pixel with a chisel of love so that we could enjoy the fruits of his labour. And if you replace the chisel of love with the hoe of randomness, you get a lifeless piece of decaying flesh.

I think CS-theme Terraria isn't a bad idea. In fact that's what I want to talk about.
The exploration is only limited by your ability, weapons thing, but you can still go with plot progressing linearly.

But rogue-like game.. I don't think random level generating suits CS that much.
