Does anyone know how to make it so you can edit the colors and eventually make your own mychar using Cave Editor? All i see is Red, Blue and Green. Is there a way to change that?

Also, how do I add a custom color with Cave Editor to a pbm file?

I wouldn't use CE for image editing if I were you, I typically just use Paint (the only problem with this is that it gets rid of the "(C)Pixel" at the end, so you have to go back and add it). In order to edit the color palette you can use a hex editor; the offset of the color palette is at 0x36 (decimal 54) and each color consists of four bytes in the order Blue, Green, Red, Unused.

CE can change the 16 (or more) colors that the pbm uses, which is useful if you only need/want 16 colors. I'd just recommend that you use paint though, and save it as 24 bit which will give you access to all the colors. Plus CE's image editor really lacks if you were to try to do all your edits in it. It is nice how it handles the palette for you though.

Yep

I recoomed paint as well. Just zoom in 8 times and you can start minor pixel art aswell. For pixel art, personally paint is the best and easiest thing i have used before

Or even better, zoom in 10x! (Click under the 8x zoom button, you'll get it eventually.)

Use CE to make a copy in BMP format. Save it as MyChar.bmp with 256-color format using MS Paint. Convert it back to PBM or whatev img format you are using with CE again. Simple.

[edit] Oh yeah, and when you convert it, also check "Remove (C) Pixel requirement".
