Make ORGs uploadable

Old topic!
The last post in this thread is over 60 days old. Posting in this thread will be considered a bump, so please make an attempt to be courteous if you go ahead with it.

If the last post is over 6 months old, it may instead be a better idea to start a new topic. If you aren't sure about what to do, feel free to ask a staff member for help, or try to locate a 'general questions'-type thread if it exists in this (sub-)forum.

....Or would that be a bit much?

Can we restrict it to the music forum?

Non, I mean adding ORGs to the list of acceptable file types. Right now, it's limited to "zip, txt, pdf, png, jpg, jpeg, jpe, gif".

What is wrong with zipping an org file and then uploading it?

Although personally I'd prefer it if people didn't use the attachments system. If you aren't logged in and want to download a file or look at an image it forces you to log in first, which I've always found annoying.

For uploading files try one of these:
https://www.mediafire.com/
https://www.dropbox.com/

Or for uploading and posting images, use this:
http://photobucket.com/

There are numerous online services for this sort of thing, go nuts.

It's never been done. And yes, it should theoretically be possible.

Well, we could make it a possible gallery file upload, or have a separate gallery for orgs. It would be a bit of work though...

If you want to write a custom org player in javascript then I may consider it. Until then there is no chance of it ever happening. What is the point of an org sound gallery if no-one can hear anything?

There's already a Flash ORG player, do you really want someone to do a JavaScript version?
