Investigation Start

First, I should look over the Monobear File that was distributed earlier...

The victim was Maizono Sayaka... the time of death was around 1:30 am.

The spot where the corpse was discovered, was Naegi Makoto's private room in the school dormitory area.

The victim died in that room's bathroom.

The fatal wound was a stab made to the abdomen by a blade. Other than that, there was also a blow to her right wrist.

The right wrist which was struck was fractured.

Based on this... I have no choice but to go on with the investigation...

Naegi Makoto:

I have to do something... I have to determine the culprit...

So that I, and everyone, can survive...

And, for Maizono as well...

What he's saying here is basically that he'll decide what to do then when that happens, but what he literally says still sorta works in English, I think, given that it's still vague in Japanese.

Speaking of "killing off" students, I think it would be kind of cool in this game if Naegi was actually involved in one of the murders and/or if you could choose to do so at some point. I mean, I guess I have no real way of knowing that he doesn't get involved at one point, but it would add an extra layer of complexity to the game. Also it would probably be a nightmare for whoever had to design the game, but I think it would be fun nonetheless.

Here we finally get to see Maizono. She's pretty dead, as you can probably see. However there's not all that much to look at in this room, only 2 things, those being her body and some of the bloodstains behind her. So let's get to work.

Halfway through playing this part, I switched from jpcsp to PPSSPP. PPSSPP runs faster and doesn't use crazy amounts of memory, but I do need to toggle buffered rendering off when I need to investigate things. But so far it's been working great. So now we've come to Maizono's room, which is the room where we slept the night before. It's still fairly tidy, but there's something we need from here.

After watching this video, Maizono was very shaken up...

This might not be directly related to the incident, but I think it would be best to confirm that...

These girls really do look good in the brilliant spotlight. But...

There, the screen suddenly blacked out.

An unbelievable thing appeared before my eyes.

Naegi Makoto:

Maizono had vanished from the stage which had now fallen into ruin.

But, there was something else that had caught my eye...

The limp, collapsed bodies of the other members who were on stage...

Monobear:

For some reason, this national idol group has been dissolved!

The girls will never again be idols or bathe in the spotlight.

In other words, Maizono Sayaka's place to go back to has already disappeared!

Well then, here's a problem. For what reason did this national idol group dissolve!?

The answer will be announced after "Graduation"!

They even went so far as to... make a move on those girls?

School trial!!

Well then well then, I'll tell you all the meeting place!

In the school area's first floor, please go into the red doors.

Naegi Makoto:

And so the game warps us to the school area. I assume this happens once the game has decided you've gathered the evidence necessary for the trial. Not much to do now besides go through them, since Naegi refuses to go anywhere else, even if you try to. And behind the red doors is...

Ishimaru Kiyotaka:

Naegi! Are you not late!? Everyone's been waiting for you!!

Fukawa Touko:

Heh... he's frightened... th, that his own crimes are going... to be exposed...

Ishimaru Kiyotaka:

It's not good to arbitrarily decide that! Wait until the school trial!

There, the whole story of Naegi's crimes will be made clear!

In the end... they think I'm the culprit... but...

But, I'm not the culprit... both me myself and Maizono know that very well.

...then, who's the real culprit?

The true culprit who... killed Maizono...

Upupu... everyone's gathered? Then with that...

Please ride the elevator that you see in front of you. That elevator will take you to the location of the trial.

And that's all everyone has to say for now. The odds look liked they're stacked against Naegi, but hopefully we have enough evidence to prove his innocence.

If you don't, then this will surely end with us still not coming to an agreement...

Saying that to myself, I raised my voice and...

I turn my legs that were shaking with nervousness towards the elevator.

Step by step, my heartbeat's pace gradually went up.

Everyone had already boarded the elevator... the last place I would ever board...

The doors closed... and the elevator began to move.

As the harsh WUM WUM sound reverbated in the elevator, the elevator decended towards the basement.

Naegi Makoto:

I wonder if this is how a prisoner waiting for execution feels...

Celes:

If you're saying that, wouldn't it be how a "defendant waiting for sentencing" feels?

Indifferent to our feelings of anxiety, the elevator steadily made its way underground...

Monobear:

Ohoho! You finally came!

Well, doesn't this indeed feel like a trial's location?

Isn't this like a Hollywood level reproduction?

Oowada Mondo:

Where... this room is in bad taste...

Monobear:

Right right, then you guys, please take a stand where your name is written.

"Hurry up, hurry up"!!

Doing as Monobear said, we headed towards the designated posts.

The posts, which were arranged so that we all took up position in a circle...

Everyone's faces could been seen in a circling of the room.

Our mutual feelings of tension, the sparks towards each other mutually...

That place's atmosphere was instantly transformed into something heavy.

And then, the curtain opens...

The trial for our lives...

Cheating each other for our lives...

Treachery for our lives...

Solving the mysteries for our lives... excuses for our lives... trusting for our lives...

The school trial... for our lives...

And now the game prompts me to save (which I do). Next time the actual trial itself will begin, and I'm looking forward to figuring out exactly how I'll go about making parts for that.
