My money's on the later, unless you've devised a way to counter rapid degeneration of your genetic code... Which would occur after just 2 generations (for visible effect). At about the 16th generation your offspring would be born dead from the sheer accumulation of faulty genetic code.

And when you finally joined in on the e-peen duels, which was rather quickly, you promptly found yourself pretty middle-rung.
