Old topic!
The last post in this thread is over 60 days old. Posting in this thread will be considered a bump, so please make an attempt to be courteous if you go ahead with it.

If the last post is over 6 months old, it may instead be a better idea to start a new topic. If you aren't sure about what to do, feel free to ask a staff member for help, or try to locate a 'general questions'-type thread if it exists in this (sub-)forum.

You could have said "it needs work" or "it's not very good"
Instead you decided to say something that makes them feel like crap
I sure as hell wouldn't want to try again after being told that my work sucks
To be honest, I'm fine with it. It's basically my first original piece, so I wouldn't be surprised or upset if people thought it sucked.

I think the link may have broken. I'll upload them to a different site.

That's just a softer way of saying the same thing. I'm not much of one for sugar-coating criticism, since I think the artist deserves to know how I truly feel about the piece, not some soft-pitched comment designed to protect their feelings. And as Halien has shown, he's not as weak-hearted as you would be, according to your statement. I'm of the opinion that if you can't handle being told your works sucks, then you need to grow up, or stop posting it in a public forum.

I know how you feel, but it's something you need to get over, doors. Like way back when I first tried my hand at drawing, I drew a lady holding a shotgun that I thought looked pretty decent and that I put some good effort into. I showed it to OnlineWorms, since I wanted him to help me improve my drawing skills or whatnot, and he sort of flat out told me it sucked. And it hurt, because I just spent all this time drawing this and for him to just say that was... it made me hate him a little bit almost. But then I looked back on the picture and pretty much everything he said about it was true. So I redrew it, trying to fix what he said last time, and I drew a much better picture. It was a nice learning experience.

Anyways....back on topic. Halien, the song would be better if you could fix up the things I mentioned in my previous post.

OK, I did try and make the choir louder. The organ and percussion I'm unwilling to change, however. Both of those give off a certain kind of feel that was my original intention when I was making this, and I don't exactly want to warp my original plan into a completely different song.

okay, I definitely like it a lot more now. Although thinking about it, I think it'd be kinda nice if the organ changed notes towards the climax, fitting in with what the choir were doing. They seem to clash a little too much.

It...
It's not bad?

It sounds like the same thing, only that some parts are louder.
It t'was also a bit choppy.

Should be as BGM though. ( after a bit of... polishing.)

Maybe it's Soundcloud? Because I play them all on my computer, and with some really good headphones, and the volume is balanced throughout, and it isn't choppy either.

I think I know what makes the song sound choppy. The strikes played on the snare sound like they've been cut off before the next one, as if the hypothetical drummer puts his hand on the drum muting the sound he makes in between each strike.

Cool! I think the music is pretty good now. ( Not that I know anything about music.)

Ask the older guys, I guess.

Sorry about the inactivity guys. Real life has been pretty busy lately, and while we're not quitting this, it may be delayed a couple months.

But when we do get back on it, we'll be able to get a lot done.

Yeah, only real mods of Cave Story like "King: Strife and Sacrifice" are mods...

Also I think it's a bit early to be judging this given that nothing playable has been released.

When you have an actual life on your hands, in correlation with a major project, delays and problems get pretty common the further you get into both, but at least you show no sign of quitting anytime soon.

Sorry about the inactivity, guys! For the past 2 months, I've been working on new concepts, music, character, enemies, and stages, and also expanding the story. The game has gotten a complete overhaul, being moved to the Unity engine and shifted to a 3D environment with 2D sprites. We're also working on special features such as Boss Runs and Arcade Modes, as well as map systems and weapon upgrades. Everything will be explained in full next month, and we should have a functioning build in late July/early August! I hope you're still looking forward to the release of this project!
