Is Kero Blaster in the Same Universe as Cave Story?

I think it is because the first boss in Kero Blaster is what looks like the Omega boss from cave story (in the sand zone.).

Could Omega be from the surface?

Or did he somehow survive Quote and the island's fall?

But anyway, the most obvious answer would probably be that Pixel just liked that boss and put him in a different game.

Which do you agree with? Any other ideas?

That would be cool. I think that is plausible, though it is probably just a reference to Cave Story as Pixel seems to like doing this (ex: The Alien Medal's description from Cave Story, referencing the game Ikachan)

If the only thing you have to go on is the first boss, then there's really not much discussion to be had on this, especially when you said it yourself, Pixel probably just liked the boss and put it in another game.

I think Pixel may have done it to just start discussion. Or for a possible spin off game between the two. Now that would be interesting.

I think Pixel may have done it just to recycle a boss. He doesn't care about fan discussion and he's not going to make a spin-off.

Well this topic has been wrapped up...but I would still want to see a kero blaster/cave story spin off.

It's more of remixing old assets rather than linking the worlds. Many designers do this for obvious reasons.

You can see it aswell in the song "Zombeat", which includes the melody of "Zombie" from CS.

(It also happens to be a favorite of mine.)

That's actually a direct copy of the remix he made for the true final boss of Guxt:

Don't know if it's one of his preferred choices (Zombie is a fairly nondescript track after all) or in there as a throwback.

It's not a direct copy (instrument choices differ), but they're mostly the same.
