Is It Something Emotional Or Physical?

If it is something emotional, what feeling (s) could it be?

I often have this weird feeling in which my heart feels as if it is being compressed. Some times it is short but very strong, and other times it is weak but lasts long. Random things at random times trigger it. When it is strong my body forces me to sigh. I don't know what it is or how to explain it. I don't know if it something physical or emotional. The common answer would probably be the latter, but I don't know what it is for me, probably the later. It seems kinda too physical to be that, though.

It could be emotional though, because of the sigh thing. I can't really remember the exact feeling, it will go from happening every 3 days to 2-3 times in a single day. The last time it happened was probably around 7:00 today. Plus there is more too the emotional part, but I would feel kinda embarrassed to talk about it...

You should ask Trickybilly, he's a doctor.

Hm.
Do you recognize anything that causes it? Like, is it always out of the blue when it happens, or are you usually thinking about anything when it does?

Know, I think it happens out of the blue. The next couple times it happens though I will write down what I was thinking of. I will see if there is a similarity.

Sounds like its something physical. I've never felt my Emotions or anything Psychological, or maybe its only me.

Your mental state can have a direct effect on your physical state. For example, extreme stress/anguish can actually cause physical pain.

As for this, I'm not qualified for any sort of medical training or experience, so I'm not going to jump to conclusions. I suggest arranging an appointment with a doctor; even if it is emotional, better safe than in the hospital.

What is it, some heavy feeling in your chest that makes the base of your throat feel weird? It's really hard to tell as none of us know you or what you've gone / been going through.

I'd assume it's physical, but that assumption doesn't carry a lot of weight.

I assume you are under 18, and since I'm not a pediatrician, but a general practitioner (I am working only with adults) I have limited competence here. Also I'm not sure about the ethic aspects of giving medical advice through the internet (need to check that). I gladly and often send child patients to pediatricians except some trivial cases, since we GP just aren't as qualified as they are. Some GPs aren't even authorized to prescribe/heal children in Serbia, I do have that special authorization, yet do not feel comfortable doing that routinely and generally I send more complicated cases to a specialist.

Anyway, I guess it's both physical and emotional. Stress itself "makes the heart want more energy" in different ways. If that extra energy cannot be satisfied, a certain metabolic pathway produces lactic acid which irritates the nearby nerve endings which can cause the symptoms you've described*. It can also been purely physical, heart disease among children is possible, although relatively rare. This symptom is something you should tell your pediatrician at the next checkup. Often there is no certain diagnose without ECG and ultrasound (so you can guess my position here), except some trivial cases. Before you visit a pediatrician or any other doctor who works with kids I'd give some tips:

-If you drink coffee - don't. It can trigger these symptoms
-Don't eat much/larger portiions at once. The stomach and the heart are close to each other. A full stomach can therefore irritate the heart triggering your symptoms.
-Do not drink energy drinks.
-Avoid stress and sleep at least 8 hours between days.

*It is somewhat similar to muscle pain in the extremities after over-exercise. Over-exercise causes a big energy demand towards the muscle, which cannot be satisfied entirely, which triggers certain methabolic reactions that produce lactic acid. Lactic acid, although a weak acid has still some features of acid - enough to "irritate" the nearby nerves causing pain. Pain is not a necessery symptom in the case of the heart, the symptoms you have described may fit in the picture also. There are other theories which challange the "lactic acid" explanation, but it is the most standard and "classic".

Since when you have these symptoms? If you have these symptoms since only a couple of days they are most probably harmless, do the tips I suggested and most likely they'll fade away if you wait a couple of days. If you experience them longer than that and frequently, tell this to your doctor @ the next checkup. There are absulotely no drugs I could suggest so use the above advice meanwhile.

I don't know, but I think this may have to do with my sister trying to commit suicide last week. I have been repressing a lot of bad emotions recently, mainly fear, so my depression may be acting up.
