Hello.

Liked announced before, I will leave these forums now. The reasons therefor are numerous. Mutual consideration seems to be a foreign word for this community, sometimes I even think, that I'm not a Admin rather than some teacher in the kindergarten.
This community isn't about coherence anymore, no, it's more about social groups that are formed to ostracise certain persons, that aren't liked for whatever reason.
This community isn't about friendship and respect anymore, no, it's more about single users on an egotrip, trying to manipulate other members to get their butts kissed. It's about getting as much attention as possible and manipulating.
I don't feel like paying for the shit that some social parasites did anymore. I don't feel like sacrificing myself for the trust into the sanity of other members anymore. And I don't feel like justify myself anymore, just because some manipulated zombies are crying after their banned leaders and got too deaf and blind to see, what the others did.

Welcome to the Cave Story Tribute Site Kindergarten!

I don't think it's funny when people like Ryuootan are going to be ostracised, only because they are different and have different interests that others might consider as weird or just because they aren't behaving very mature but actually not doing anything wrong. I don't think it's funny when people like Ralren for example, get harassed by so called "moderators" in chats outside of the forums. And I also don't think it's funny when members are crying after people like Fire, only because flaming is considered normal. (Which doesn't make it any better, quite the converse)

IRC-Channels that are advertising themselfes as "THE solution", where people are banned for no reason and others that are behaving themselfes a lot worse are spared. In addition the OP's aren't even able to ban a user without banning others by accident too because they only banned a proxy. (and they aren't even aware of that) Yeah that's what I call a fair solution, if not "THE solution".
Moderators that think that it's the end of the world, just because I wan't to leave the forums but two weeks later, when other members are asking me why I wanted to leave the forums, these moderators are telling me to "just shut the fuck up". Great, almost hypocritical, but oh okay.
Users that aren't able to understand self-irony and taking jokes and argumentations personally, aren't the minority here.
Flaming, that is considered normal and that is part of the daily routine. If someone flamed other members 2 years ago then a lot of members would have rushed that thread out of solidarity and would have told the user to stop the fucking flaming. In that times I was proud to be a member and a moderator in this community.
Respect isn't considered normal anymore, in this community no one is respected, instead of that the members are flooding the spaming zone.
Oh yes and nobody understands jokes anymore or even irony, instead of that everyone takes everything literally.
Also there are a whole bunch of people that are masquerading themselfes as your friends, just to stab you in the back. I'm not going to list anyone here but such baseness and thievishness creeps me out.

Congratulations, the community is dumbing down to the 4chan level at full speed. This forum is in desperate need of an "immature award".

Since all this behaviour is considered more or less as normal or atleast was considered normal, I don't believe into the future of this community anymore. And I don't want to be here to see this community dying or even better: To be the captain of the sinking ship.

However, if someone here thinks that "I'm just flaming" is just either horribly blind or very ignorant. I only tell you guys my reasons why I don't want to be in this forum anymore. I admit that some of the reasons could be polemic but I'm not lying.

And the specialists that think that I'm just trying "to make a scene" ("u mad SP?"), I have to tell you: I and everyone else in this forum still has a right to complain about the things that are going on here and those who aren't aware of the things that happened in these forums the last months/the last year, are just to blind to see.

Sayonara

- S. P. Gardebiter

In before "tl;dr": You're just prooving my point.

P.S.: I'm going to demote myself and remove my rights just after I closed 2 threads of mine, which are about projects that people could be interested to follow. (SW for example)

P.P.S.: This is the reason why Ralren left btw.: http://tile44.org/files/Finalverdict.rtf

Sure, there are some issues, but to be quite frank you're making a mountain out of a molehill here.

Anyway I'll miss you I guess, and I'll be here if you come back, but it looks like you've sort of burned the bridge with everyone.
Whatever, I'm not here to tell you what to do. Bye.

The post is fine, it's just... oh... two years too late? :/ I don't really see why you're only noticing these things now when they aren't even that big of a deal anymore, or why you'd think I would allow such behaviour any more than you did on this site, or blarglfargl wapperdongles.

W/e, I'll catch up with you some time over IM.

The forums have changed considerably since a few years ago. I would say that the overall maturity has declined. It has become a less tightly knit community and behemoths are leaving. But is it worth leaving?

I certainly thought so. I left for a few months, and yet I came back.
I came back because it was one of my friends on the forums birthdays. Crazy, eh? After leaving because of disinterest and detestation I came back to just say happy birthday. So of all your points, that is the one I have a problem with SP, even though the community is expanding and on some levels devolving, it is still a community, friends are still important and they are the only reason I am still here.

So while I understand your leaving, I hope you change your mind.
Have fun in whatever comes next, ShIniInG PhAnToM.

If there is still an "exclusive group" here they certainly don't have any say in the running of the site, unless andy is secretly listening to them behind my back

I don't mean to sound offensive but 2009er's opinions don't carry as much weight on this matter.

Yes, you are right SP. The forums - they're only relatively bad now, because they were literally perfect pre-2009. So if you compare now and then, you'll only get depressed. The forums were a utopia, everyone was friendly and everyone had some sort of talent from which they made this a better place. A small, friendly community. There are still many creative minds here who bring their ideas into being, but they're not a majority anymore. But that's another story! So anyways, why was everyone friendly and nice and stuff like that? Why the hell wasn't there shitloads of drama every day? Perhaps the reason is because people didn't have such eloquent bonds between eachother as individuals and as a community. The bonds between everyone has increased drastically, and normally you'd think hey that's awesome but in reality this has fragmented people into social groups and instead of a friendly forum, as you said, this has one way or another created a popularity contest. This causes a lot back-stabbing and insinuating and uncalled aggression in general.

Who started this amusement though? Who made a small forum concerning cave story become serious fucking business? Fire? You can't just blame one person. The way I see it, it was in a way natural. Sure, people like Fire and Captain Fabulous (who is basically the weaker, less significant version of Fire) may have increased the rate at which forums die from inside. But nothing lasts forever. If the forums hadn't deteriorated from inside, they would've died from a slow, lethargic decrease in population eventually.

I'll miss you SP. You're like me. There aren't many of us veterans here left. Hopefully we can still chat sometimes or have two or three beers together. It would be, in a way, rational for us to leave (which you have done) but I still see good in community.

I don't give a rat's ass if SP leaves, that's his choice.
But almost none of the things in his post were true anymore. It just seems like he left because he was bored with the forums.
Also, this thread really doesn't make any sense being posted now, because he said the same things last summer and then pretty much quit the forums.
Now he's just making something we already knew official, so pardon me if I find it hard to conjure up the emotions for a tearful farewell.

I'll see you on Skype sometime.

Didn't you only start posting like the middle of last year?

Well anyways I've definitely noticed all of the aforementioned, but I quickly found if I stayed out of it and paid it no mind, I noticed that there's still a lot of good around.
And also things have really been turning up since then.

So it is/was here, but I personally think it isn't hard to avoid.

Not in an admin/mod since, but in a more social sense.

Again, I'm not trying to justify myself here since I'm probably guilty.

And again, not as bad as the other place. It was anarchy there.

Oh yeah: IRC is shit.

EDIT: Happy birthday Ralren. If only you were still here.

Pre-2009 was garbage and everyone treated each other like shit. You have to go back to mid 2007 before the site was really like that. Yes, before you joined.

Woodenrat do you even read people's responses to you?
Lol all of your responses are just "burn yourself" and "excuse me princess"
Utility responses!

Ontopic though, I never had a frame of reference when I joined in early 2009, so I was pretty happy with the place.
When I came back later in early 2010, it was still pretty much the same o: except voidmage Lowell decided to evaporate a few weeks after my return, and JacobX891 had left.
I think 2009 was a pretty good year here o:

I think I joined mid-2009, but then left late 2009. So I really haven't been here at all.

I miss those days still. Things seemed to be more active (Well then again I'm probably saying that cause of the dumb KazumaxQuote thread.)

I'm still happy I got to meet such a wonderful plethora of people in that thread. :3

And yeah. I miss Lowell's prudeness.
