I wonder why there are no timed sections in Cave Story?

What's wrong with adding this little difficulty for something.... bonus-ish? Like you wade through the water shit to get a 2.0. But no save points at the jetpack chest and you have to rewade shit. Double difficult?
You go through Hell to get the best ending, that's bonus enough.

Either Pixel didn't get what he wanted or there's a shitload of n00bs running around this place.
Didn't think Hell was that hard... except in my first twenty play-throughs of it. Other than that it was a piece of spiky cake. Mmmm.. spikes...

There is a countdown timer for drowning...

Well, this gave me a lame but at the same time awesome idea. To make such a game, just spam the whole damed map with water tiles and there you have it. You have a timer couting down to your death. What's more, you get to play it in slow-motion matrix mode! Isn't that awesome? Sadly, you only get to enjoy that awesome-mode for a mere 10 seconds before your happiness comes to an abrupt end.

However, I think RuneLancer found a way to change the time limit of your air capacity... right...? o.o

Even better, being underwater slowly depleted your health. Though I'd imagine if he could pull that off, he could just as easily do what you said.
