Also, I would suggest you phrase this in a less spammy way, and then post it here.

Also it can do weird stuff to smileys.

 

My guess is that this is because the forums stores posts as sets of "words", and if these words are too long then it just breaks them up so it can store it properly.

Perhaps it was implemented to stop a multitude of smilies being used consecutively, or typing without using the space bar.

I don't think it's here because otherwise threads could stretch horizontally to extreme lengths. It might be somehow related though. Text starts another line after reaching the border of the screen. There are ways to get around that though.

I don't know. Maybe she used her staff privileges. But now you can see that I was right and unbroken chains of characters will fuck up the formatting.
