Flipped Races

Long before I joined the forums here, I started making a fairly basic mod that replaced Quote with Chaco for the lulz (complete with a replacement for Chaco, amongst other things). It was pretty much a few applied edits to a few different spritesheets, as well as some dialogue tweaks where needed. That project got dropped, either due to losing some files or losing interest.

HOWEVER, since I don't have a whole lot to do right now, I'm taking another shot at a project, but taking it a step or two further. I'll be replacing all humans with mimigas, and all mimigas with humans. Why? No idea! Because I can, I suppose. I don't plan on doing anything particularly fancy, since all I know how to do is edit dialogues and sprites.

Yknow, I'll probably lose interest in this project too, but oh well.

In one of the endings for CT, the humans are replaced with reptites and the reptites are replaced with humans. This happens when you manage to kill off the final boss without destroying the reptite race in prehistoric times.

 

Well then, this project will prove to be an interesting one. Um, I may play it if you finish it...

Like Jed guessed, she'll be a mimiga magically turned human. Luckily, I already have a map sprite and faceset to work off of. I'm ESPECIALLY grateful for the faceset, I should be able to just transfer the expressions of her mimiga pics to the human one. I've done that plenty with my personal avatars, so it should be a cinch.

I actually hadn't thought of that, I suppose so. Maybe I'll rip off the Ivalice universe and call it Hume Village 'cause why not.

 

Yes! This is gonna be awesome! The mimigas on the surface sent robots to kill humans and etc. I can't wait to play this.

Also: Yknow what hurts my brain? Drawing a human mask that fits over that huge mimiga head. It clearly looks fake, and in some respects I think that's a good thing, but it makes me wonder how anyone would EVER be fooled by it. I thought the mimiga mask was a pretty thing disguise, what with a human body and all, but the human mask on a mimiga body? It's just silly.

Yes, but I mean he's -styled- like a human/mimiga. In the original, humans are (presumably) the dominant species on the surface, meaning robots would be made in the visage of humans. Since mimigas are now in place of humans, robots would be styled like mimigas. Plus, if I didn't make the swap for Quote, the disguise would be pointless on the plantation since he would already look human.

Unrelated: After collecting up some sample sprites of characters I need to edit, I've realized humans will be universally short, and Momorin/Kazuma/the Doctor are going to be very TALL mimigas. Hoo boy that'll be fun to work out.

Use itoh as the model for a tall mimiga?

 

MimigaItoh is 16px tall, while Kazuma/Momorin/Doc are much taller (22px, 22px, and 32px respectively). Then again, I suppose I could just make them shorter, keeping the upper half of the 16x32 grid unused. HumanItoh is 22px tall, after all. Yeah, I'll just shorten them down to around Itoh's height.

Jesus, the Doctor is one tall sonofabitch when you put him side by side with the others. Their foreheads are level with his chin.
