Warning: Incoming question deluge.

What is so special about Egg 00 as opposed to every other egg? Why would Kazuma only be able to gain access? Neither was ever truly explained. Couldn't they just hatch another Dragon and get off the island that way? The sisters could clearly fly. Or were they simply not aware of any other egg, or like Quote, could not gain access? How do you password-protect an egg anyway? Why was it protected by a force field? Would there be a matching force field on the outer wall? Why was the force field controlled by a computer and keycard in two empty eggs of all things? What happened to the Dragons from those eggs?

Discuss.

What is so special about Egg 00 as opposed to every other egg? Egg No. 00, I always thought, was the "perfect" egg. Obviously there was some sort of breeding program going on there... Perhaps the Egg Corridor was a lab for research in cloning the (perhaps) long-extinct Sky Dragon? It would make sense, as Mahin seems skeptical of the very existence of them, giving rise to the idea that they existed in the mythology of the island. Say the unnamed Professor of the Corridor managed to find some sort of fossilized, incomplete Sky Dragon DNA, and set out to clone them from this fragment. The Egg Corridor, then, could be assumed to have been built from right to left. Once the Professor found the perfect embryo, he brought it to the isolated room for closer inspection and research. At that point, he had a teleporter built to facilitate the sharing of his findings. Egg No. 00 may actually be the youngest egg of them all, the last in a series of tests to fully recreate the Sky Dragon. This answer will be revisited in later questions. Why would Kazuma only be able to gain access? I simply assumed Kazuma has mystical 1337 HAXXOR skills. Neither was ever truly explained. Couldn't they just hatch another Dragon and get off the island that way? As stated earlier, if Egg No. 00 was the "perfect" egg, then the others would have all had some kind of imperfection. The sisters could clearly fly. While this is true, they are also substantially smaller than the Dragon from Egg No. 00. Perhaps the imperfection of the Sisters' egg was that it contained twins? It'd explain why they're so much smaller than the other dragons. Or were they simply not aware of any other egg, or like Quote, could not gain access? The perfection of Egg No. 00 would explain why they ignore the other eggs. How do you password-protect an egg anyway? Put a password on the program that runs the hatching sequence. Why was it protected by a force field? According to Igor, the test eggs are "very precious." Something that is valuable is worth protecting, especially if it were one's life's work. Would there be a matching force field on the outer wall? This may be the case, as one cannot get into the Outer Wall before the egg is hatched. Perhaps this force field shuts down only after Egg No. 00 hatches. It would explain why you can feel a breeze through the door, but can't leave through it. Why was the force field controlled by a computer and keycard in two empty eggs of all things? Creative security measures. What seems likely to me is... What happened to the Dragons from those eggs? That the eggs weren't real eggs at all. Simply a diversion, to help protect the most important egg, Egg No. 00. The fact that the observation room lists the eggs as anomalous is likely an error in the system; the Professor was never able to ensure that the system indicates the lack of life in the eggs as normal before... whatever happened to him.

Answers in bold. My last answer brings up another question: What happened to the Professor?

@ColdCallerloppy: I honestly believe that the enemy Dragons (Sisters excluded) are not Zombies but rather blind. Note the blood trail from their eyes. I think that their blindness and their sudden hatching was because of the explosion. Naturally they would lash out at everything around them until the pain stopped. But the point being that there was likely nothing wrong with them pre-explosion, and even if there was, how would the Sakamotos know any of this?

The sisters theory makes sense to a degree. I'll have to double-check the number of dragons vs eggs to be sure.

And here are my set of answers,
What is so special about Egg 00 as opposed to every other egg?
Egg 00 is probably the current loaded egg. Maybe the eggs are moved from position to position through some means. The Egg 00 room was probably created for hatching. Perhaps Egg 00 was the only egg still able to be hatched properly? Not enough information to do anything but guess...

Why would Kazuma only be able to gain access?
Hacking the password on the egg's hatching process.

Neither was ever truly explained. Couldn't they just hatch another Dragon and get off the island that way?
There was only one dragon that didn't attack on sight. The only dragon that was also safe to ride immediately after hatching.
That can't just be a coincidence that the "ready" egg, was the only safe egg which was used.

The sisters could clearly fly. Or were they simply not aware of any other egg, or like Quote, could not gain access?
There were definitely other dragons ready to fly... But, like previously mentioned, perhaps the only proper way to hatch an egg was using the Egg 00 chamber? After all, that chamber had direct access to the outside, while inside the corridor would probably be a dangerous place to hatch a dragon. If one got loose... who knows what kind of damage it could do to the corridor.... It might be a more sensitive system then we believed...

How do you password-protect an egg anyway?
That's probably just the hatching process? The only way to activate the system and have it hatch properly, requires credentials. And just cracking an egg open might not be a good idea...

Why was it protected by a force field?
If it was indeed a hatching area, then perhaps that area would be better protected, to keep a young dragon from escaping and damaging the corridor. That large area before the Egg 00 chamber might have been used to interact with young dragons...

Would there be a matching force field on the outer wall?
There wasn't one in-game, so I'd imagine not? But, there must be some way for the Dragons to fit through the door; perhaps through hidden gate, and if the eggs can be moved from location to location to the hatching area of Egg 00, then they too would need a system that moves them.

Why was the force field controlled by a computer and keycard in two empty eggs of all things?
It seems Igor was the one looking after the lab after the loss or disappearence of the professor running that hatchery. Igor apparently had a source of red flowers, and perhaps red flowers were being used in some fashion with the dragons. After all, the failed hatched dragons, were called Zombie Dragons...
Anyway, the keycard was probably put in the eggs for safe keeping by Igor. He seemed... somewhat sane... and somewhat insane...
It's not a bad hiding spot too... He was the most sane frenzied Mimiga we were able to meet, maybe the PC too was put there...

What happened to the Dragons from those eggs?
Perhaps they failed to mature and were disposed of, or... perhaps the false egg was a trick the professor came up with to hide the items needed to take control of the corridor.
Now if you are looking for evidence to backup everything, I'll have to answer a little more carefully than what I imagined...

@Andwhyisit @blindness, that's certainly a plausible theory...
The reason I always go with zombie however, are because... don't the credits say zombie dragon? It's been too long I don't remember...

The word "zombie" was used for the Enraged Doctor as well (internal name for the backing music), so I'm a little skeptical in regards to Pixel's interpretation of the word.

Whoops. My mistake.

But regardless, isn't a zombie a near mindless reanimated body rather than a disembodied mind?

Maybe it's more of what he represents, than the Doctor in particular being a zombie.

The king of the zombies arises to infect everyone with his red virus, to turn them into mindless frenzied slaves to his plans.
If not for Quote, all the Mimigas would become enraged zombie-like creatures, and eventually so would humans...

Also Zombie fits for the Undead Core's prelude to the battle.

Hmm.. But that African legend still implies that the person is dead prior to the possession of their body.

Lets be honest, if the Red Flowers aren't strong enough to affect Humans in regular doses then how would it affect Dragons? Maybe these Dragons have really weird death/birth cycles? Or maybe they were failures prior to hatching? Or maybe the translation was wrong?

If we were to assume the eggs are chronologically ordered, then it could also be assumed that Egg. 00 is the first one. The Egg Corridor(although there could easily be an unseen location where Sky Dragons inhabit) doesn't appear to show a source for the eggs, which could open the possibility of the egg being from an outside source from another part of the island. The reason's for the other eggs being smaller could be a result of incomplete cloning from Egg. 00, which, in some cases, can cause deformities before or at birth. This would explain why Egg. 00 is in the best condition and the most valued, being the source of the unaltered genes. It's not necessarily a sign of the extinction of the Sky Dragons themselves, but it could be that the species simply isn't native to the island, only to certain locations on the surface.
As for the security behind the Egg Corridor and Kazuma, for one, both Sue and Kazuma seemed to know of the sky dragons prior to even entering the corridor, suggesting that they were aware of the dragon eggs and possibly even the importance of Egg. No. 00. In order to access the password, there are 2 possibilities, following the rest of this theory. For one, considering the chance that Kazuma and Sue already knew of the Egg Corridor and Sky Dragon Egg's existence, he could have had access in some form from the prior research on the island. No one ever said where specifically they researched on the island, other than the Balcony. Either that or, like others say, he managed to hack the security measures, gaining access to Egg. 00. As for the empty Eggshells in correlation with the items inside them, they could have been
left in there by someone else who had access to the corridor and knew their way around, such as Igor or the professor. Sure, it makes much more logical sense to hide them under high security, but the last place most people would expect to find an ID and keycard would be inside 2 of about a dozen or so giant eggs.

In regards to the Zombie dragons, I personally doubt that they actually fall under the category of "undead", for one, having nothing to resurrect them after death. The most likely case is that the dragons, already being malformed (as testament to the smaller and seemingly weaker eggshells) clones of the Egg. 00 dragon, the infant dragons were released prematurely from their eggs, and their first instinct in response to the pain of having their eyes heavily damaged is to lash out at whatever is near them.
The mythos of zombies can be interpreted differently by any culture, really. Otherwise we wouldn't have so many varying degrees of zombie lore. So if Pixel 'created' his own Zombie lore, that would make more sense to call them zombies, but the already mentioned track "Zombie" fits the typical Zombie template, contradicting the possibility of the sky dragons being actual zombies by definition.
