I still really, really don't think CS is meant for multiplayer. But that's just me.

Also didn't JTE make a multiplayer mod or something?

No one has ever made a multiplayer version of cave story, despite the dozens of threads we have on the subject.

JTE made an (incomplete) cave story clone that was capable of online multiplayer.

I thought of this idea a while ago. It seems like a good idea at first...
Then I realized that keeping up a server would be difficult.
You'd have to make a script that would transport you to an arena when you ran into another player, and a boss fight against each other would occur.
Also, pickups would somehow have to respawn... otherwise it would be impossible. Players would have to respawn at their last save point, with the number of deaths that occur... even in the original. Also, could you imagine a boss fight in a boss fight? You'd get back from the arena with 10hp and you'd have no chance. :orangebell: Also, a betting system (each player would put up an item that the other wants) would be good. The winner would get their wanted item, along with theirs.

It would be so fun, and so complicated.

I would assume that it would be a cooperative multiplayer, not a "kill each other as fast as possible and get a cookie" multiplayer.

An online multiplayer sounds cool, but would be hard to set up, maintain, etc. Couldn't you hack CS to support both WASD and arrow keys for two players?

Even if you got WASD keys to work somehow, the actual problem is creating a second player. CS only has 1 player object, and creating another via hacking would be no easy task.

This would actually be a really cool idea, for two-player co-op. One player as Quote, the other as Curly, and it would count as a game over for both of you if one died, to make up for the lost difficulty on having two players. Though personally, I think this would be better suited for a hypothetical sequel (that way they could keep Quote and Curly together the whole time without contradicting canon, and the levels could actually be designed with co-op in mind).
