Does anyone know if there's anyway to take CS's samples from the game or any other source and convert them to a usable audio file?

PxTone comes with samples but none of them are really good, just a bunch of bits that sound really ugly.

I feel like if we could grab the samples from the game, we could easily use them for some sort of soundfont which would make using CS's beautiful samples in other works so much more easier.

eh, the samples that come with pxtone ARE the actual ones dude. they're just 255 byte pcm chunks that get looped for the duration of the note.

so you would have to string (or loop) them together to get the legitmate instrument sound from Cave Story?

I think a few samples of the combined instruments would be useful to have in some scenarios, as the samples that come with pxtone kinda suck.

all you'd be doing is making the same sound take up more space

You know, when you place together two of the same wave at slightly different frequencies and it has a really good effect?

It's tedious to pull off that with the mediocre pxtone org samples.

Let me elaborate:
Alot of the pxtone samples are broken, notably waves 63, 97, 98, and 99
Wave 63 seems way too choppy
Wave 98 and 99 sound different in an indescribable way.

so I investigated it more closely and it does seem the instruments in pxtone are ever so slightly different. The samples that come with organya have a base frequency that is 4 semitones higher than the orgmaker equivalent. but otherwise they are basically the same.

you just loop one cuz a single sample looks like this
p359065-0-i6duyoo.png

and thats just 0.0045 seconds long of audio
so you just continue playing it as long as you need the note to be

Ah, thats nice to know! And you called also lower them a few semitones in order to get more closer to OrgMaker instruments.
