Can someone make a GBA rom of Cave Story? I know that it's probably impossible, but those who have experience with GBA rom hacking, could you try it? Thanks.

Just the maptest and the Organya files. The whole project has been shelved for a port on DS, which has also been shelved.

Without the original source code you would have to be half insane to try it. Even more so when you consider that Ravenworks jumped ship to the DS simply because getting the GBA to run CS was just too much work.

I think he was just talking about official ports. If we are including unofficial ports, let's include the graphing calculator. Hey, that's one way to play Cave Story on the go!

C'mon, seriously guys.

Pyroaid is asking a serious question, and all this goofing off and naming of unrealistic ports is really immature.

It's all about the Nintendo Virtual Boy, playing Cave Story on that is almost better than on PC.

Well I looked in programming for the Game Boy color, programming would be done in c++ I think, so Gba wouldn't be much different. I tired doing Cave in it but I didn't have everything necessary and some other stuff, its probably possible on Gba, you just need to put in the time and effort for it.

I am pretty sure you would /not/ program for the GBC in C++
that would even be pushing it on the GBA I think, but C is viable there

the main issue you'd run into is the hardware limitations. The CPU itself runs at 16.78MHz, and I don't know if you grasp how little that is but the i486 debut'd with about 16MHz and that was in 1989.
it's 32-bit, so it's got that going for it at least.

furthermore you'd have to downgrade the graphics since the GBA only has a 240x120 display, while Cave Story runs natively 320x240.
