mod the game so that to get the machine gun/snake/spur/nemesis you dont have to trade your guns and you just get the new weapons?

 

Just about anyone could mod things to change which items are handed to you where, including weapons. However, do realize that the game can only handle six weapons at a time, so you'd have to give up something--three somethings, actually.

1. instead of the bubbler there is a snake
2. instead of trade polar star for machine gun have it trade fireball for machine gun.
3. instead of trade fireball+polar for snake have it just give you bubbler

I could do that in about 30 seconds if I was booted into Windows but honestly I'm too lazy.

all you do is have to change the trade script and delete the part you giving the weapon or use cave shark which you can download at http://cavestory.org/downloads_5.php

 

or, if you were really lazy, and didn't feel like editing the maps, you could hack the exe and make TAM into AM+, where you would get both weapons.

Or would that be more work?
