KSS: The re-mod-ening
it's still full of bugs and unfinished but I realized if I waited until it was done I'd never post it.

A bunch of problems with it, but good nonetheless.
Problems:
1.the sound is really quiet at times
2. reading the burnt note, you have to press x instead of z to answer
3.when i got the bubbler... i didnt get the bubbler.
4. the robots dont exist
6.you noticed i skipped 5 *shot*

1. if it's about the SFX then I'm not sure how to fix that other than changing the player or making the samples louder. If it's the BGM, you can change the base volume in the config
2. that's odd.

Well uh this is interesting. A few things I found:

That H/V thing. It moves around when you do. Pretty sure it's not asposed to be there.

Well I had some trouble with the H/V triggers not triggering, so I made them visible to make sure they actually existed

Nope, that never happened. They come from the farm.

GIR programmed that and therefore it is a trainwreck (no offense)

It works fine, but you didn't change your spritesheet to accomodate for it. That or you should change the rects.

Oh my god... Bad idea to pick this up at midnight when I have school the next day... (See down at *)
  • The things you have (The H/V) indicate where events take place. (pointed out)
  • When I entered the save room after King's mom drags you in the house and the robot thing was over.
  • Entering Mahin's Storehouse when the robots attack make Mimiga village normal, but still have the dialogue and robot attack scene going on.
  • *Using previous bug, it's possible to enter the Assembly Hall and see what King would say. "I think I'm going to be sick..." I so agree with him.... (not putting screen shot up)
  • In the Assembly Hall, there's some bubble soap which gives +10 ammo. Even though there's no weapon to be found.
  • There's invisible robots. (Already pointed out)
  • In the Hermit's Cave (A.K.A. First Cave) the dialogue with the Cthulu repeats twice for the first and last talking sequence.
  • Also in the First Cave, there's an Earthquake on the way back, which seems kinda out of place if you ask me.
  • You get no Bubbler from the Hermit Gunsmith (Already pointed out)
  • King can apparently breathe underwater indefinitely (Either that, or his secretly part fish)
  • When getting either the non-existent Bubbler, or the Burnt Note/Dead Fish, the music cuts out. Don't know why, but I think it's a problem with the music resuming.
  • Chinfish (A.K.A. Eggfish) is tiny, don't know if this is intentional.
  • King can go behind various parts of the wall where graphics are suppose to show. (Going behind King's Mom and the building for that matter)
  • The music is different in parts. (Mimiga Village sounds different, both sped up and normal)
  • Options screen is buggy (pointed out)
  • Lastly, when trying to go back into King's House AFTER you check King's mom and when King says "I can't believe it..." (finishes the dialogue), the game crashes.
  • *EDIT* When you die, you just splat into blood and disappear the game locks up.
  • *EDIT* When you restart with F2, you get put on the title screen with the last menu opened. (I hit start, new, file 1 and when I restarted, I was already on file 1 on the new option.)
  • *EDIT* There's a weird invisible thing near the Assembly Hall that pushes + damages you. You can go behind it and jump on an invisible block.
  • *EDIT* The fade effect doesn't look to good. (I think it's just me too used to original Cs fade effects)

Found all of these in like, a 10-minute playthrough. I also thought this was something else, didn't realize this was a boot to your original KSS.

I pasted my old save into the data folder, and after a bit of crashing, i managed to get into crystal caves.

A few more:
The intro image shows the map briefly before being displayed.
Controller support missing (though it's probably just not implemented yet).
You can move in the span of time it takes for the message box to appear, but this isn't always the case. I think something is causing the event to delay in triggering.
I think I've mentioned this before but I can't talk to someone when they are standing in front of a bed. The bed event triggers instead.

This made me wish I was a better programmer. It would take me so long to make a platform engine this solid.

The options menu is broken, though. Also, gamepad support would be nice. (If it doesn't have it already. As I said, no options menu)

Please don't post stuff like this in this topic, This doesn't have anything to do with that.
P.S:people were not trying to mean to you. (except dunc, he's ALWAYS rude) They were just pointing out that .jar is for java, and that the "cave story rewritten" idea has been done a few times, including right now, but then ShinyElectricBlueTiger made that offensive post, and you got angry.
