• Most people probably don't realise this, but this forum has had two editors for a number of years. One is the xenForo default editor, and the other is a custom editor I made years back I called BBCEd.

    All the settings for which editor you use was lost during the upgrade. You can find the setting under Account Settings > Preferences > Editor.

As well as my other mod, Rise of Ballos, I shall now post another mod - the Ultimate Challenge.
This challenge involves all sorts of parkour and all other skills that you can think of from Cave Story.
Normal players might want to use the Save Points.
However, if you're an extreme hardcore Cave Story player, you might want to do it without saving to see how far you go. You may even complete the entire challenge to show off your best time. Or you could be a noob and hack the files, whatever.

Section B: The Booster v0.8 challenge
Section C: The Booster v2.0 challenge
Section D: The Machine Gun challenge
Section E: The Booster v3.2 challenge (Infinite Booster v0.8)

could you put the save after you get the .8 booster, having to grab it repeatedly kind of impedes gameplay. mods like this could also use having the map system so one can plan ahead

I don't see how reducing the number of save points would make it harder for "cheaters." If someone wanted to cheat, they could just give themselves an obscene amount of health and other things to make the challenge a breeze. All you would be doing is hurting the innocent player.

You may want to counter this by saying, "My mod is for pro elite Cave Story players only," But I can assure you, even people who are very good at Cave Story hate this. It is not fun, even in the slightest.

Why is the 290 timer used? Do you really expect about anybody to beat it without messing up once during the whole challenge.
Have you even beat the challenge yourself? It's really hard.

Aar that's what I've been saying for years, difficulty and challenge are different.
Overwhelming Difficulty: Hard. Frustrating. ***king. Bullshit.
Challenge: Slightly harder than the player's current skill level allowing them to become better.
I'd like to know if the creator would consider changing the name to "Ultimate Overwhelming Difficulty".

Nice! This is actually one of the mods that I've stopped working on, but it's nice to see that someone actually got through it!

I quite enjoyed it myself. I used saves, and it probably took me about an hour.

The Worst parts were always the last sections of jumping and the infinite booster 0.8 and 2.0. The last sections of jumping had blocks so you can't land your jump in the block, so you have to slow your own momentum in mid-air down, it was quite annoying. Oh, and it took me 3-4 hours. i used saves.

7. "saving will forfeit your highscore" so you're telling me that im supposed to do this in one go??? -1.
8. OK, the spike jumping after the save point is kinda fun. +2.
9. You should put a spike on one of the blocks before the third save tbh. Having to jump one pixel away from death is my kind of fun.
10. I would have taken off a point for the fact that you'd have to start over if you fell off the blocks before the 3rd save point, but I did it in one go, so +1?
11. The spike jumping after the 3rd save is fun too. +3.
12. I like how after the 4th save you have to do the pixel perfect jumping. +1.
13. I like how you know what the down arrow blocks do after seeing the up arrow blocks. +1.
