How can we convince Pixel to create a prequel to Cave Story?
A game that includes Arthur as a "living" character.

Well with Pixel giving the rights to Nicalis or whatever the deal was, I assume not at all.

Nicalis just has commercial rights. It is still Pixel's IP.

Ohh right I forgot. So Pixel can still decide to make a prequel on his own?
In any case, even if he's able to do so, I doubt he's really interested in doing that anyway.

yeah the likelihood of pixel making a prequel is low. not that it wouldn't be cool, but I think part of cave story's charm is in its ambiguity.

Maybe someday we'll finally get to play Cave Story 2: The Search for More Money

Why do you always seem to be against re-releases and possible sequels to CS calling them all for cash and nothing else?

Because Nicalis and their quantity over quality habits.

IDK, making a port every time a new Nintendo console comes out+ one pc port isn’t that much quantity over quality. The amount of ports they make is the least of their problems.

I believe you're missing the point. Of course it won't matter on how many ports there are, but based on how Nicalis has been marketing Cave Story as if it's the only game that will give them the cash, with literally nothing new to offer other than free cookies, a keychain, or something you could easily make with a $5 value, you're better off getting the PC version of CS+ on Steam, which is far more of a reasonable price than the $60 Switch port. Even then, you're still going to encounter the numerous fuckups by Nicalis (broken achievements, hell run time crashing the .exe file, issues with the Mac port, etc), just because the staff at Nicalis is too lazy to fix a few lines of code.

Walking backwards while shooting, water physics for every object, or multiplayer aren't really as big of a deal as you think it is.

Who needs the ability to walk backwards while shooting when you can just bunny hop away from the enemy and shoot at them while your momentum is still carrying you in the other direction?

1. The switch port is 30$
2. Multiplayer is a big deal for lots of people.
3. The physical version includes a physical soundtrack, key chain, and instruction booklet.
4. There are a lot more features than just that.
Anyway, if you want an example of Quantity over Quality, CS+NS is a bad one.

I'm pretty sure the physical version only includes the game. Those were pre-order exclusives iirc.

most gamestops are still giving out the preorder stuff from what I've heard. apparently not many people are buying CS+ on Switch.

The instruction manual is in all copies of the game if I recall correctly.

Apparently only 75368 people bought the game:

And the stats for outside the US are pretty good considering that Headup Games bought the rights to distribute the Nicalis physical releases outside the US, and then shafted everyone by only releasing Binding of Issac and ignoring everything else, which meant that we could only import.

I totally agree. Besides, I'm sure that if Pixel follows his own inspiration and makes the games he wants to make, they will turn out better than anything we could demand him to make.

There's plenty of those, already. You could even make your own, if you wish!

thanks, but I'm very lazy, rather I've been inactive for a long time
