Hi guys
i have an issue with the original version not cave story+
it runs really slow, like 3-4 times slower than normal. it's just slow it's not choppy, and there are no problems with sound
i'm using a dell 7720 17r laptop, windows 7, so i obviously meet the system requirements :D
i tried setting the affinity to 1 processor only (the laptop has quad-core)
and giving the process high priority
couldn't find an option for hardware acceleration
and i'm stuck :(
any ideas?

Try turning your computer off and on again? (That's stupid advice... But it sometimes works)

Cave Story is a pretty basic game, so pretty much any computer that isn't millennia old should be able to run it.

And you say that it's slower than normal... Does that mean you got it to run perfectly on the same computer or are you just saying that you played it on another setup but this one isn't working?

EDIT: try messing with DoConfig.exe (it should be with the other files..)
Maybe changing the resolution will help you, maybe not.

My Windows XP can't run the original very well either
It runs at about .5-1 fps
CS+ runs fine though
(I use Windows 8 now)

Go to Control Panel > Power Options. If it is set to "Power Saver" then change it to "Balanced".

If that doesn't do it for ya then set the resolution in DoConfig to "320x240 Windowed".

Or if that doesn't work then look at the first two items on this page:
http://www.cavestory.org/troubleshooting.php
They are generally the cause of most Cave Story related issues.

Can anyone solve my problem?
My Windows XP computer gets .5-1 fps (on Cave Story)
The menu works fine but everything else, including the "Studio Pixel" opening is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY slow.

As I said, the other options are to try and play the game in 320x240 windowed (open DoConfig to change this), or if this fails update your video card drivers, or if that fails change your display settings to 24-bit instead of 32-bit.
