I wonder what Misery is going to look like the most.

Is there any chance that the larger/higher-resolution images will be integrated into the PC version at some point?

It's unlikely, but who knows? If nobody makes an updated version, I'll be the first to completely redraw the sprite sheets in its updated glory. (It's up to others to modify the game to use the double rezed images!)

Oh, and either my tamper tantrum has caused much worriment to Tyrone, or the release date of Cave Story for WiiWare is coming sooner than I thought! Not 1, but THREE character comparisons this weekend, all now on the blog: (sorry for the image repost)

Misery doesn't look bad at all, but I fail to see much difference between the two. (and I still can't figure out if she's floating crossed-legged or otherwise!)

Just got out of school, was pretty excited to see an update on the nicalis blog. I'm getting antsy with anticipation for this game. XD

I also am incredibly curious about what is going to be in the "exclusive content".

What are the odds for DLC of some sort on the WiiWare version? Anyone heard any rumors?

DLC seems very doubtful; unless, as I said before, various CaveStory mods can sway the heart of Pixel. The boss-rush mod, or a variation of such may very well be included in the WiiWare version of the game. However; judging by the predicted release date of the WiiWare, and cross-referencing it with current mod completion rates; I highly doubt any mods would get any form of spotlight from the WiiWare version.

That's depressing. Maybe, just maybe he'll throw in a level editor or something silly. That's doubtful. It'd be incredibly fun though.

At the least I'm gonna hope for a Wi-fi leaderboard for Hell Speedruns. XD

Gah, the scarf looks SO weird!, sticking out like that! And since when did Quote have so much hair???

What makes me slightly depressed is that Quote is now one pixel taller (on the newer resolution), which means it's very hard to see him bounce up and down when walking about! (it's more noticeable in the PC version due to the fact the resolution is just half of the WiiWare version)

Other than that, Pixel did and awesome job!

I'm gonna be up all night trying to recreate the plethora of sprites and tiles Tyrone has provided us...

A broken screen shot. It looks scaled pretty poorly.

Yeah. That screen shot is scaled badly itself. look at the blocks, and the fact that Balrog has no mouth. And the text, possibly.

I think it's because the Wii's dimensions are slightly smaller than 640 X 480, which squashes some details together.

The image was scaled to a non-factored resolution so there are a bunch of items missing. You'll notice the main character has no nose. The screen was given at a resolution of 640x448--I wish they hadn't resized it.

New screen!

The Egg Corridor tiles look really good!

EDIT:

IGN's got new videos as well.

Obviously it's a little rough around the edges (music and text issues, as well as faster speed?), but I'm impressed with its progress. The artwork is looking great!

Anyone have any comments about the "IGN Insider" video? I personally can't see it :( .
