Cave Story+ Humble Indie Bundle

Seeing as Christmas is right around the corner, all I can say is :

Get Cave Story+ for Steam! You won't be sorry ;D

(Humble bundle has steam keys btw)

Also, the update is fairly large. Is the music really that high-quality?

btw the "thing" isn't in the Humble Bundle stand-alone version at the moment. Unless it gets a last minute update!
Thus the reason I say get the Steam version.

Just bought it for $5.50 on HIB and I am insanely impressed with the + version. But, it seems that the developers mistakenly gave the Wii soundtrack to the Humble crew.

Anyway, this game rocks and is totally worth it.

 

I have the Mac version. I have updated to version 1.1, yet I see no 'Nemesis Challenge', nor do I have access to the remastered music. I deleted my save data, but it made no difference, so I reinstated it.

I also downloaded the Humble Indie Bundle version in the hopes of getting it, to no avail.

As a Mac user, am I being screwed over, or am I doing something wrong?

Also, the bubbler's firing sound effect is now absolutely ear-raping. It is almost preferable to play the original game.

 

You have to unlock the Nemesis challenge by getting the Nemesis in a playthrough of the game.

Does the challenge have a ???? placeholder?

 

Yep.

You can force unlock it by modifying the mods.txt file also, if you're like me and would rather carry the little man around instead of returning him home

Example :
01 RG P10 /TimeTrial/mod/
02 RG P15 /boss/mod/
03 RI35 P05 /CurlyStory/mod/
04 RG P20 /Kaze/mod/
05 RA12 P25 /Nemesis/mod/
06 R+ P06 /Xmas/season/
07 R+ P30 /Something/mod/
08 R+ P35 /NewGame+/mod/

and change Nemesis's line to
05 R+ P25 /Nemesis/mod/

I think it actually reverted on Mac. I was fine with the first version, then I updated, and now it ear-rapes.

If I simply hold down the fire button, the bubbles will gather around me and auto-launch with the correct sound effect. If, however, I release the fire button to launch them manually, I get that awful sound.


@X-Calibur: My mods list does not have it. Here is my mods list:

I do not have the Christmas skins, nor do I have Nemesis mod or the New Game+ mod. (What is the New Game+ mod?) I am also lacking the Remastered Music option.

This is the same on both the Humble Indie Bundle version (1.0) and the updated Mac App Store version (1.1).

 

Ah! I'm not sure if I have the latest Mac version downloaded... but looking in the archive; you're right! There's no nemesis mod, nor the xmas mod.

My advice for you to try would be :

Download the PC version, and see if you can copy the data folder from the PC version to the Mac version and see if it will run.
If it does, that *should* give you Nemesis mod, and the xmas mod.

Make sure you backup your game first though!
(Note: Only the Steam version (PC only?) currently has the Xmas mod...)

As for the sound glitches... If copying the data folder doesn't fix it; you'll probably need to report it to humble bundle or Tyrone.

Thanks for the advice, however it did not do anything. The bubbler is still ear raping, the remaster is still non-existent, and the Nemesis mod is sitting right next to the remaster.

The final battle music was missing and so was the music for the lame bonus stage. I'm just glad i didnt pay alot for what is basically a broken version of the Wii release.

The one i have is from humble indie bundle. Apparently you can redeem the product on steam via humble indie bundle...? I havent tried it. I just ignored it and got through the game again.

Get HIB. You can activate the game on steam, works very well. PLUS it cheaper AND you get 11 more games.
