I used sandboxie a few times but I had found that I didn't really need it all that often because I usually only download from trusted sources, i.e. links from friends, known vendors and such. Web of Trust browser addon is helpful in identifying unsavory websites.

Couldn't you right click the .ZIP, and select "extract all"?

My Windows partition got butt-plowed by a virus a year or two ago while I was downloading yon "esoteric" porn. Words of advice: Flashblock and NoScript addons for firefox, Adblock Plus won't hurt either. Installed all of them right after I reformatted my drive and reinstalled Windows, and I haven't gotten malware since. That stuff won't help you if the virus is in whatever you downloaded (only a decent investment in antivirus can), but half the time the virus comes from one of the asshole scripts on the download page itself anyway.

Avast can scan your downloads while they happen so that you don't actually get viruses most of the time.

Sadly, no. I tried, it doesn't display the option.

"Esoteric" porn? Could you please define "esoteric" in this context? (Please, don't be too specific, though.)

Anyways, on another topic, all I'm looking for now is just some software that's virus-free, and easy to use to make this happen. What's the best program to use for modding?

Most of the time. A little extra never hurts.

It also helps when you're doing things other than browsing and your browser's still running in the background, or even browsing at all. Lots of javascripts and flashes doing background shit you don't need are not great friends to a computer's performance.

I'll give you a hint: It's

They said "access denied." I'm not so sure I wanted to find out what it was.

If I told you that 7zip or anything else on SourceForge doesn't have any malware and/or viruses would you go download it.
Mostly because this thread is starting to give me pain.
Alright. I'm trusting you on this. 7zip.

What says it's restricted?
My antivirus says that. Big red octagon with a white X in the middle of it. That always means: "keep away from this site because it's very suspicious."

My antivirus thinks that furry smut sites are suspicious. It's right for one reason, but that reason sure isn't viruses.

Why do you trust the machine so much? Machines are pretty dumb. People can be pretty dumb too, but usually they have the advantage of being able to pass the Turing test.

Are you trying to imply something?

On another note, I DO agree with the whole thing about the machine being less than the mind of the man (or woman. I just said man for the sake of alliteration.)

Sourceforge isn't a bad site, you can trust us on that. After all, many things on there are open-source, you can download the source to see if the file is a virus!
Well, my web browser HAS been acting up a bit lately. Seems to not trust a few sites that honestly, are as trustworthy as it gets. I'm talking Facebook. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe it just seems to LOOK suspicious to my computer.

Macs are not immune to viruses. I expect that as their market share grows we'll see more and more attacks that target them specifically.
Getting a mac is generally a bad idea in most situations

Also bad for my wallet. I DO already have winRAR, though. Just installed it yesterday. Works like magic.
