Are people allowed to be banned if they request to be?

I am just wondering, because if I find myself not working on my book, which I have already not been doing, than I may request. To stop me from being distracted. It is very unlikely though.

Also, are they allowed to put specifics on how long they would like to be banned?

heard of doing this stuff before. ...I don't go on a whole lot so I wouldn't need this.

 

I'd say that people who have trouble focussing to the extent they need to be removed by a third party from a site they frequent... Would be in the minority to say the least. Besides, there are so many other ways to waste time that most of those people would spend days on youtube or playing videogames or whatever.

Frankly i think people in this category could consider chilling out. They dont need to be prodigies and will probably grow bored of posting constantly anyway. At which point they can balance thier life a bit better.

I don't see anything wrong with asking a moderator to temporarily ban you, but I think you have the restraint to simply stay away from the forums for an allotted amount of time, and come back when you choose. If you were banned, you wouldn't be able to come back even if you wanted to.

Look royaltyler, here's some actually helpful advice. If you have a question about how the forums work, you should just ask a mod. I'm assuming you know how private messages and visitor messages work.
People have asked for bans before. A better method is to ask DoubleThink to change your password so that you can send a "I forgot my password email" to yourself when you want to come back. DT probably doesn't have anything better to do, and it's enough of a roadblock to prevent you from making rash decisions.

Okay, I am not going to do it at the moment, but I am was just wondering incase I ever do get really distracted.

 

It doesn't really matter if you were going to actually do it or not, any questions (even if theoretical) should be directed at the administration, not at the users.
