I can't accurately translate Japanese, but regardless an interesting page has been added to Studio Pixel's official site, which, from my understanding, seems to be an overview of Cave Story, with a vanilla download, and a possible Bug-Report BBS of 2004 archives.

Pixel doesn't share stuff like the old Beta and the like because he only gives out the necessary and useful works of his, so it doesn't make sense that he just now is releasing some old private-development messages regarding the game.

I don't know how to interpret this new page (Which is linked from his homepage), and neither do I want to attempt to give out a general translation of the archives for lack of knowledge and practice with Japanese. I'm really just confused on why the text was published now in the first place.

By the time I'm done, I'm fairly certain GIR will have beaten me to the punch, but it's a fair shot anyway.
*Ahem*

=Greetings=
I am Pixel, of Studio Pixel.
I'm sure most of you know of my 2004 freeware title, "Cave Story",
which I was initially surprised by how many people both overseas and in Japan played it,
in addition to how well it was received.
It took me 5 years to create Cave Story,
and I still have a Bulletin board system [BBS] leftover from the updating process [what he calls a "brush-up"]
which myself and 5 others spent working on.
When I found out this development log took 1 year to write,
it came to me that this was critical to the success of Cave Story.
10 years have passed since then,
And I'd like, with the permission of my friends; Kurohito, Torai, Naoku and 1 other,
to be able to display this BBS with the audience who has played Cave Story.
For those of you who are interested in the original production of Cave Story,
the link to the BBS can be found below.
I wish good luck to those who strive to create games of their own,
and encourage them to accomplish their goals one day.

The first link is for the release version of Cave Story. [Link unavailable for c/p] I do not know if the newest Windows software will be able to run it.
[Both Win 8 and 8.1 are able to run it without flaw]

The second link is to the 1 year BBS to Cave Story, which is now available for all to see.

So I wouldn't be surprised if I left something out or messed up something crucial, reading Kanji isn't exactly my strength here.
Ah well, sure hope this helps Enlightened!

Unfortunately for those who can't read Japanese, the development log is entirely written in Japanese (no surprise), so I might get to translating that at a later point.

No one is asking you to translate the whole thing, cause to be honest I wouldn't read the whole thing in one go even if it was in English.

I was just interested on what it was, which I guess is nice of him to shows us snapshots of the last year of development.

I didn't translate out of obligation or anything--
I just did it because I was curious to what it said.

EDIT:
Oh, the BBS. Well, more-or-less the same reason for that. No loss for me, other than some spare time.
I'll probably do it regardless of whether someone tells me or not.

"Brush up" as a word in japanese means to polish up, or revise, so this is about the revision process. It's not really a development blog in the sense of him creating the game itself, I believe, but in polishing it up.

Which fits with what the top of the BBS says, "This page is for reporting bugs in Cave Story". This is a debugging log, I think.

That's partially what I'd assumed at the time, especially since ブラッシュアップ (burasshuappu) is romaji for "brush-up.
I guess I was pretty broad in calling it a "development process" instead of a revision process.

It's still a neat thing to get after almost a decade. I do like reading through things like this. ^_^

Did anyone else notice that the version in the screenshot is "1.0.0.7"?
The linked version is the original zip of 1.0.0.6 however.

*sigh*

Pixel released 1.0.0.7 to fix some character rendering in some language or other for someone's translation. It exists as a standalone exe file to overwrite the exe file from 1.0.0.6, but it adds absolutely nothing to the Japanese and English versions of the game.

Indeed. The original link was taken down, you mentioned putting it on an FTP? http://www.cavestory.org/forums/posts/26775
