When I play Cave Story in windowed mode, clicking on the volume button causes some jarbled text to appear (I assume it's Windows not interpreting Japanese correctly). Is this an error or something? What does the japanese text say? Does this happen to anyone else?

Those are all very good thoughts. But what about the throwing thing? When King used it on Balrog, he used it like a normal sword. Also, "doritos." Hehe.

Why didn't king just kill the pignons in the graveyard? He can defeat Balrog in one hit so some shrooms shouldn't really be a problem for him.

Yup, but the problem is the actual game itself. I don't know how to make the game 2 res. A template for 2x res mods.

When I say hi-res original sprites, I mean like if someone went on MS Paint, used that one stretching tool to make the spritesheets twice as big, and left it like that. But hey, yeah, a community-made 2x pack sounds pretty neat!

I know that making a 2x res mod with Nicalis sprites and giving it away isn't allowed, but what about a 2x res mod with the original graphics? Is that a thing anywhere?
