Remember like two years ago when I said I'd sing Soldier's Prayer, then wasn't able to and you said you'd have someone else do it? Well, I listened to the someone else, and I'm gonna be honest... I really don't like it. It's not that he's a /bad/ singer by any means but he sounds like he doesn't understand the piece at all. Because of this, I've been working for a couple days on singing my own version over the accompaniment you gave me way back when, and I was going to wait until I was completely satisfied with it to show you but seeing as you're here now I decided to just show you now. Here it is. I'd love if you could tell me what you think about it, what I could improve, what you liked, etc. Thanks!

Ooooh, I like it! I see what you mean - especially on the spoken parts, you just make it seem a lot more natural/realistic than he did. Incidentally, I was just working on revamping The Journey Goes On - I'm almost done with it, and I was also considering significantly reworking some (or all) of my other csrp2 contributions.

If you do decide to keep working/improving on it, here are a few things to keep in mind:

-At the very end, when you're repeating the words "soldier's prayer", it'd be nice if each one would get a little quieter/gentler than the last - right now they all kinda sound the same.

-I guess the accomp-only version I gave you was in C minor rather than the original version of C# minor? I think I like the piece a tad better in C# minor. Though I'm not sure how your high notes are - they sound pretty good to me, though if you think the extra half-step higher would make it sound worse in your voice, I'd be fine with it being in C minor. Otherwise, I'll get you a C# minor version of the accompaniment soon (Monday at the latest).

-If you could send me a recording of just the vocals alone, that'd be nice, in case I do decide to revamp the accompaniment (that way I can just layer the old vocals over the new accompaniment).

Thanks a bunch, I really like this

-I'll keep that in mind.

-Yeah, the one you gave me was just plain C - I could probably do C#; the only problem is that the break in my voice is right around that high E, (first one above middle C) which means I'd have to strain a bit to keep from cracking. I can probably pull it off (in some choir pieces I've had to full voice high F#s ) but it'll take a bit of work. If you'd like to send me the accompaniment in C#, I'd be happy to do it.

-I'll get the C minor one to you right away (just gotta make that small adjustment at the end) and I'll give you one in C# at the same time as I give you the accompanied recording.

It's not a problem at all; I love singing anyway and since my older brother has a high quality mic I felt that I had somewhat of an obligation to do this before anything else. There's also the fact that I'd wanted to contribute to the CSRP2 for years, so having that opportunity again is great.

That does sound better, thanks!

And apparently I still have the C# minor version of the accompaniment lying around, so I won't need to re-record it.

Here ya go: https://soundcloud.c...p-c-sharp-minor

Also, on the website, would you prefer to be credited by your real name, forum name, or both?

I may be without Internet for the next week, so if you post something and I don't respond, that's why.
