Is there a reason why I get notifications about members replying to status updates of members if both aren't friends?

You get status notifications about replies to your own comments anywhere AFAIK

Is there some way to stop IP Boards from mangling links when editing posts?
The [ URL] tags disappear entirely when editing and it's kind of annoying.

There doesn't seem to be an option to change the gallery's file associations. If you want you can just resave the .bmp as a .png without any colour loss.

Do you mean notifications about your own responses to PMs? If so then no, that shouldn't be happening, unless you're somehow on your own friends list.
